  • Well-maintained, peaceful Yorkshire park 10 minutes’ drive from Whitby
  • Robin Hood’s Bay five minutes’ drive and Scarborough half an hour
  • Restaurant and bar on site, plus a play area and dedicated dog park
Set in 10 acres of stunning North Yorkshire moors countryside, York House Caravan Park is just 10 minutes’ drive from Whitby – you can actually see the Gothic abbey from the touring pitches – and has a variety of accommodation options designed to suit all budgets and styles of camping. This spacious site in the small village of Hawsker appeals to both couples and families – and it must be doing something right, as guests come back year after year. There are two play areas for kids, and also plenty of opportunities for gentle strolls and relaxing in peaceful surroundings – it’s a canine-friendly place too, with a dedicated dog-walking field. On-site facilities include a well-maintained shower block, a washing-up and laundry room – and – saving the best for last – a bar and restaurant for those days when you just don’t feel like catering for yourselves. There’s also a local pub five minutes’ walk away, which serves delicious home-cooked food and a good selection of drinks. From the site, it’s easy to access the Cinder Track, a 21-mile path along the disused railway from Whitby to Scarborough. Leaving the car behind on your adventures? There is a good bus service from Hawsker to Scarborough in one direction and Middlesborough the other.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: The reception staff are very helpful, and the site is well managed. We were moved pitches before arrival as an assessment had been made on the ground conditions, which was great. The shower block etc we’re brilliant. They were clean, warm, and the showers were fantastic.

Disliked: The bar could be open for more hours, but maybe this is the case in the summer. The play areas could do with flooring, as they were very boggy. Again, summer I imagine is lovely

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: This site is very well looked after, clean and tidy. The gravel pitches are a good size, the camping area for tents is in between trees which looks lovely. There is an electric hookup, clean showers and toilets.

Disliked: That we only stayed for 2 nights

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Not much

Disliked: Was very disappointed with how much they charged for electric I have a 5 bedroom house and don't use that much 15.00 for 2 days was scandalous and we were out all day on the Saturday would not stay again for them to charge that much

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Sandra, we are sorry to hear that you did not like the park or enjoy your stay hear due to having to pay for your electric usage. We offer a pay as you go electric system which is a fair way for people to use or not use electric, especially as there are customers who use very little or non at all and those who use a lot more. This helps to keep our pitch fees as low as possible. Kind regards, York House Caravan Park team.

Camping pod

Liked: How organised the site owner was, when we arrived we had all the information we need- a map to our cabin and the parking, codes for the loos etc- she was also super friendly. The cabin was clean and cosy and the site was quiet at night- perfect for a busy couple who wanted a quiet night away! Location wise it was only a 7 minute drive into Whitby and a 30 minute drive from the North York moors which meant that our weekend was full of things to do!

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely clean site, facilities were close and again very clean. There is a nice little club house that serves food and drinks till 9pm. Great location .

Disliked: Thought when I paid for electric hook up , electric was included but no I had to purchase electric token. Which isn’t a problem but they need to make this clearer as we haven’t camped in years so came as a bit of a surprise.
