What customers say

This is a well-maintained and clean campsite with friendly, helpful staff. It boasts a great location, ideal for exploring Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, with convenient bus links. Facilities, including the shower block and bar/cafe, are generally praised for cleanliness and functionality. A large dog walking field is a particular highlight. Some guests found pitches to be on the small side or uneven, and the electricity payment system was a point of concern for a few. The bar and cafe had varied opening hours, which was a minor inconvenience for some. Despite these points, many visitors found it excellent value and would recommend or return.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Good location, good dog walking field, staff friendly, Touring pitches mostly level, grounds well maintained, good strong tv signal from nearby transmitter, good mobile phone coverage

Disliked Pitches a little small, bit too close together, shower block basic but clean and functional only 4 showers, 3 toilets, (ok when I was there, with full occupancy it must be a nightmare) mains hook up a little costly, on site wifi pretty slow.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (large)

Liked A lovely clean, well cared for site. Plenty of room for my tent, and loved the dog walking field which gave both my dog and I a bit of exercise. Toilets and washing facilities were excellent and not too far from my pitch.

Disliked The bar and cafe were shut on the couple of days that I was there due to staff shortage, just my luck I suppose, oh and make sure you take the right electrical hook up adaptor, or else its a trip out to purchase one.

Liked Clean toilet and shower block, plenty of room and hot water. Well laid out site.

Disliked Would have been helpful to know in advance that food was only available from the bar at weekends. Luckily we had backup food in the van!

Local attractions

York House Caravan Park is nicely located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park. It's a short drive from here to Robin Hood’s Bay (five minutes’ drive), where ghost walks tell the story of times gone by. For a small taste of the village's smugglers' history, head to the museum. For hikers, there are fine choices around such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way (five minutes) through the North York Moors, and the Coast to Coast Path (five minutes) ending at Robin Hood’s Bay. Those who prefer to travel at higher speeds can take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the station in Whitby (10 minutes) – after spending some time exploring the famed abbey, of course. Goathland (20 minutes) is a popular destination – it's the home of the TV series 'Heartbeat' and starred in the Harry Potter films too. There are so, so, so many pretty spots along the coast that you might find it hard to choose where to spend your time. However, Ravenscar (20 minutes), a pretty coastal village with splendid cliffs, and the more ‘happening’ Scarborough (half an hour) are some very nice picks.
