If we had our way (and some day we surely will), we'd take a Pitchup.com campervan across the whole of the grand old US of A. For we do declare that this vast land could keep travelling types on the go for aeons among its splendid cities, prairies and plains, deserts and beaches, mountains, canyons, national parks and other deeply diverse landscapes... again, some day we surely will. (This paragraph was brought to you by the themes dreamy and determined.)
If you're off to the land of the free and don't have the hours/dollars to traverse its terrain for the several years it demands, we state you shouldn't get overwhelmed at where to start: simply decide to make it your lifely mission to navigate as much of the land as possible on many an annual trip.
You could (deep breath) go west young (wo)man, for the Californian coastline, gorge Grand Canyon and the deserts of New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Nevada in the southwest; peacefully potter the classic coast to coast route from New York across to the glitz of Los Angeles via famed Route 66 and a beautiful time along the vastness of the Great Plains, or (and) investigate the USA's waters such as the Mississippi-Missouri River and the biggest freshwater water body on the planet at the Great Lakes.
Or (deep breath again), zig and zag around the country's 58 national parks including the world's first, Yellowstone National Park, and then the peaks and waterfalls of Yosemite; say fiddle-dee-dee around the deep south and then Florida, or have a bout around the 3,000 miles of so of the towering Rocky Mountains. And we haven't even got to the beaches, the bears, the birds and the wildlife, or the couple of thousand miles or so of the Appalachian Trail...
Personally, we'd have the lot. If this too is you, browse our USA campsites according to where you fancy ending up, or customise your own US hol by searching for sites according to accommodation, feature, theme and more – all to get a bigger bang for your American buck.
