We came, we saw, we conquered. Which we feel is an appropriate term for hiking the length of Hadrian’s Wall – there are 73 miles of it after all, with lots of museums, forts and, er, strenuous tearooms to stop off at along the way. Next time, we’re hiking the wall in togas.

If you’re going roman around Northumberland (sorry), we’ll assume you’re a history buff, which is a Good Thing in this county as it also has piles of priories and castles – the kids will shock you by knowing that last one, as Northumberland’s Alnwick Castle was the home of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.
