The location of this site is ideal as a base for visiting Keilder Forest, Hadrians Wall and many public footpaths and bridleways that are located in this superb corner of Northumbria. The site restaurant is fantastic as breakfast through to evening meal is served with extensive menus, very good food while reasonably priced. The friendly staff go beyond all expectation to cater for every need ensuring that your stay is memorable. As a dog owner being able to eat onsite, inside the bar area is a definite plus and one of the reasons that we returned to this campsite.

Ok for restaurant, pitches NOT level 10/09/2018

Although did not use the restaurant looked ok and was offered a booking for sat night or breakfast Sunday.Down side only 2 loos&showers which seem a little low on amount for this size of campsite and the pitches(hardstanding) were differently not level,oh and a smile with a hello really doesn’t cost anything.

    Disliked:

From the manager...

Thanks for the revue, we do appreciate honest helpful reviews that will assist future visitors but yours is a little twisted sir, I apologise for not greeting you with hello, 99% of visitors except "hi" as an abbreviated greeting, my normally happy cheery face did disappear when it was trying to inform you of the toilet and shower location, the restaurant opening times and the need to book breakfast, but you were more interested in getting yourself to your pitch and didn't appear to be listening, in fact you couldn't of been listening because I told you hard standing 1, you decided hardstanding 5 was more your liking, would you enter a hotel reception and just pick up any room key because it was hanging there, no because that would be ignorant, why do some campers think its ok, speaks volumes of the type of person.
We state the wifi is available in the main building only, yet you mark it as being poor, its not available outside the building surely it should be the same as the accommodation you declined to rate !
Children I see we got top marks for, odd, you came alone we had no children staying whatsoever this weekend so no parents to ask views of, we have no play area, we don't have a children's club, very misleading to anyone reading your review.
Toilets, theres 2 of them, 2 urinals and three showers in the gents, the ladies have 3 toilets and 3 showers, guidelines indicate 1 toilet & shower per 30 pitches, motorhomes & caravans are not included in the guides as they have their own facilities.
The hardstandings are definitely not bowling green level, the experienced motorhome owners seem to carry little mini ramps round with them, perhaps they at time also come across slightly uneven pitches.
Again thanks for the review, so sorry we won't be seeing you again at the Boe Rigg.

The food and bar area looked good however and I am sure that many people were very satisfied with the availability of ready made breakfast on site. The site is in a beautiful part of the country and well worth a visit.

    Disliked:

The toilets and showers were not up to standard but it looks like work is being done to address this. Also there was a lack of signs to show were the toilets were. It was fellow campers showing the way.

The real outdoorsy feel. And the fact that there was a little bar with free WiFi. Also liked the fact that camp fires were welcomed and wood was available onsite until late too.

    Disliked:

I don't think that the restaurant is really necessary and wasn't particularly infitting with the site which is quite basic. A little convenience shop instead would be so much better.

Didn't think much of the shower facilities and would probably make a decision not to return because of that reason. Women's facilities were 2 showers with curtains not private at all and there was always families in there washing several kids at once meaning there was no choice for me but to skip showering and make do with a wash! So happy I was only there 2 nights.

Was a bit worried as previous reviews weren't great, but all the niggling issues were not a problem. Nice open area, staff very friendly and helpful, restaurant really good. Reasonably priced too for pitch including hook up. Level pitch even though at the top of a hill. Toilet block always clean.
Don't be put off by reviews, this has everything you would expect from a good campsite with the added bonus of a restaurant and bar.
The only reason we wouldn't stay again is because it is a bit too far for us to travel.

    Disliked:

Toilet block still needs work but signs do indicate this is a work in progress. Have definitely seen worse.
Wasps were a problem but it's that time of year, it was the same wherever we went.
We got a bit of abuse from a fellow camper who had an issue about where we had pitched our tent although we were within the pitch allocated to us, he did genuinely apologise later but it did shake me a bit and spoilt the trip tbh.
