The lodge is really brilliant. Adam is helpful and a great host for the caravan park.
The lodge has everything you need for a break, down to dishwasher tablets for the dishwasher! The lodge is well decorated and has a luxurious feel.
The heating is easy to use and lodge quickly heats up. We had got caught in a very heavy rain shower up on Hadrian's wall and were chilled.
The location is superb it is so quiet no road noise only the birds. Yet the train station is nearby so getting to Newcastle was no problem.

    Disliked:

    Nothing.

peace and quiet, the host adam was friendly and helpful suggesting place to eat. toilet was clean and shower hot. liked situation to village it was short walk and you could walk through woods also.

    Disliked:

fact that kids locked gents toilet and climbed over door after making a mess, i doubt their parents even new as my husband unlocked it for the cleaner and she sorted out the mess they left. kids were bored after playing with a ball for hours. could do with a shaving mirror in gents, but toilet and shower ok there too. we had to move camper in middle of breakfast as folks in caravan wanted out at 9am on sunday morning, it was too tight for them to move round us, that was a nuisance as we were not expecting them to go till 9.30, then they came and asked us to move at 9am! we had to unhook and moved for them in the middle of breakfast. such is life!

From the manager...

Thanks for the review, I must thank you for the door opening, I did speak to the family, and the child in question, who apologised for the locking incident, while we ask parents to accompany children to the shower and toilet block, I know sometimes this is not always the case, please accept my apology and we look forward to seeing you again.
Many thanks

Price for stay extortionate.not explained when booking, paid £40 for two nights and i assumed i had included my hook up and my dog, the owner then asked me for a futher £18 to cover my dog and electric.
In total £29 per night for one male and one female shower for entire site and a pitch that was on a slope. I dont want to mention the dish washing one small sink in the bivie area. 8.5 my eye

From the manager...

Hi, I am sorry that our campsite was not to your liking, the pricing is clearly stated in Pitchups booking form, camping £10 per adult, dogs £4, electric £5.

Arrived early Sunday afternoon 9th July 2017. Gave Adam a call who showed us to our spot. We had a Tent and paid extra for electric hook up which cost £25 per night, we stayed three nights. The location was perfect for myself and wife.
The site facilities are adequate for what we wanted, some probably would say there wasn’t much. It would be pointless bring children as there isn’t much for them. The site is quiet where the campers respect the owner’s rules.
There is only one shower and one toilet for men and one shower for women. It did get a slightly busy one morning when more people arrived with tents. Everything was clean but Adam! please fix that dodgy tap where campers do their washing up.?
The site is just for relaxation and is brilliant for public Transport especially the Train. To the left out of the site takes you to Wylam where there are a few pubs and one superb pub called the Boathouse, right beside the Station. This had 14 hand pulled Ales, a must for the Ale lovers. The distance from site is 1.4 miles.
In the other Direction is Ovingham where there is another great pub called “The Swan”. Meals in there are fantastic, there are four hand pull beers but nothing to excite the beer lover. The Swan is 8/10 th of a mile and is easy walkable. A little further around the corner and over the bridge is Prudhoe railway station 1.4 miles from the site. Here you can get to Carlisle, Hexham and Newcastle. The fare with a rail card was £3.45 return to Newcastle Central.
Wylam does have a few small shops and a couple of take away’s should the campers get a tad hungry whilst Ovingham had a Londis which sold pretty most things.

    Disliked:

The only gripe would be when more campers arrive which probably would make getting a shower more difficult, same would be if desperate to use the loo, I'm sure Adam knows about this.

From the manager...

Thanks for your positive comments, we really appreciate the time taken to write this.
We do try and not to over book, but sometimes we do get campers calling in on spec, usually cycling or walking, very tired and in need of somewhere to stay.
We look forward to seeing you again.

Lovely site. Nicely tucked away in lovely countryside. Not too far to walk into the village where the food in the White Swan pub is fantastic. Nice friendly staff. Will def be going back :)

    Disliked:

Could possibly do with an extra toilet block as there is only 2 female toilets and 1 shower so may get busy during peak times.

Nothing , unsuitable pitch had to park the motorhome on an angle even with the leveling blocks it was still uneven , lots of noise coming from a group of rugby playing lads in the very close tent field . We left the site after an hour and did not return.

    Disliked:

    Everything .

From the manager...

I am so sorry for your disastrous visit, I have refunded you in full, the youths in question were Duke of Edinburgh participants who should have been controlled by members of their staff, (and also should have known better!) I ended up refunding everybody's payment in full because of disturbance. We are updating the pitches to make them better for drivers of motor homes. Many apologies. Adam Lee, The High Hermitage

The nearby town of Prudhoe, about 11 miles from the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, has a Norman castle and a waterpark as well as access to the old Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, now the Tyne Valley Line and still running regularly between the two cities.

If you're anywhere around this part of England, a must-see is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, the most visited destination in the north of England, running for about 73 miles across the north of England from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend, across the North Pennines, and along Northumberland National Park.

The wall has several Roman sites along its length, including Housesteads Roman fort, the most complete Roman fort in Britain; eight forts and live excavations at the Roman Army Museum and Roman Vindolanda, and Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum.

Paintball, quad biking, go karting, offroad 4x4 driving and a Go Ape! are all available locally. A shopping centre is 20 minutes away.
