Surrounded by Slaley Forest in Northumberland, the touring pitches at Springhouse Boutique Holiday Park are just as peaceful as they are scenic. And that’s not all that there is to like about this dog-friendly site, as there’s always something to do locally, whether your plans involve walking, cycling, wildlife spotting, heritage outings or admiring the dark skies. That excellent list of activities is down to the location – the site is within 15 minutes’ drive of Corbridge, Hexham and Derwent Reservoir. There's good access to lots of other top-notch Northumberland spots from this park too. For example, hikers need only take a 10-minute drive to get to the edge of the North Pennines or a 15-minute drive to hit the Hadrian's Wall Path. Your local town here is Corbridge, a place with a traditional marketplace, a bakery and an old-fashioned grocer. The Roman town also has an open-air museum and rare Roman armour. You might want to grab a pub lunch while you're out, as historical pubs also line the streets. Hexham is another fine spot nearby – on the banks of the river Tyne, this market town has a large abbey, museum, park and lots of different eateries. Back at the park, an on-site restaurant and bar take care of those times when you want a relaxed meal, a refreshing pint or a hot brew, and there's a spacious play area to keep the kids busy. Other facilities include showers, toilets and a launderette.

Liked lovely surrounding area, friendly staff.

Disliked lack of instruction to access the site.[very narrow bridge] warning not to come that way would be helpful. There was no grey water drain to the pitch, yet the static next to the touring pitches had drainage. Not really set up for tourers more of a static van site. Poor recycling facilities.

Liked Very friendly staff. Quite a large pitch with water on the pitch. Bathroom facilities very nice and clean. A lovely addition to have the bar lounge facilities .
There is a lovely woodland walk of about a mile around the perimeter of the site which is very pleasant.

Disliked I was very disappointed that there are no recycling facilities on the site except for glass.. I had to put all my other recycling in the general rubbish.
It would be really helpful if the site could warn customers towing caravans not to follow google maps directions from Hexham as that takes you over a really difficult old narrow river bridge on a double bend. There is a warning notice for no HGV and the width limit is 2 metres but by the time you see that there is nowhere to turn around. It was very scary!

Liked It's such a great location for families & couples. Quiet site on an evening. Great dog walking & cycling for miles straight into the forest. Great park & ball park for the kids. Very clean facilities. Very friendly welcome.

Liked The pitch was ok but would have been nicer if nearer to the shower)toilet block

Disliked We booked this site because it advertised a restaurant/bar facility. Unfortunately for us we booked for a Tuesday to Friday period when this facility was closed. But we were not aware of this until 2 days before our arrival so we're unable to cancel our booking. Also the shop was very small and did not stock fresh bread or other fresh foods.

Liked Countryside setting. Good area for walking. Lots of rabbits and woodland. Site pitches good size. Quiet and peaceful . Laundry , shop, cafe on site. Shower and toilets very good.

Disliked Cafe opening hours reduced. Plus not serving food due to staff shortage.

If you prefer activities that’ll push your limits, try out the zipwires at Go Ape Matfen (25 minutes) or the sailing, windsurfing and open-water swimming organised by the sailing club at Derwent Reservoir (15 minutes).
