  • Spacious safari tents at a three-hectare estate near Caylus
  • Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and Grotte du Bosc 10 minutes' drive away
  • Swimming pool, playground and thrice-weekly table d'hôte dinners
If you’re on a quest for a quiet Quercy location where you can soak up a whole lot of scenery and fresh air in style, then Domaine Les Quatre Toits could well be the place for you. The glamping tents here are part of a three-hectare Tarn-et-Garonne estate centred around a characterful 19th-century farmhouse and part of a much larger 30,000 m² wooded park. Come along here and you’ll be staying in luxury safari tents that are well spaced to give guests plenty of peace and privacy. Each one sleeps up to five and has all its own facilities including a private bathroom and a mini kitchen. Towels, bedding and bed linen are all provided to reduce the amount of kit you’ll need to bring. Guests also have access to the camping kitchen, which has two fridges, an oven and a microwave, and can join in with table d’hôte dinners three times a week. Between them, the nearby villages of Caylus (five minutes’ drive) and Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val (10 minutes) have several food shops and places to eat. Leisure facilities on site include a large heated swimming pool with sun terrace, a playground, a games area with darts and table football and a veranda with garden furniture where you can put your feet up and admire the scenery.

Local attractions

Once you’ve explored your own estate thoroughly, head out into the surrounding area to see some of the other historic buildings nearby – perhaps 13th-century Cas Castle (five minutes’ drive) or former Cistercian abbey Beaulieu-en-Rouergue Abbey (10 minutes), now home to an excellent contemporary art exhibition. The real gem around here for history and culture seekers is Albi (50 minutes), which is home to a 1000-year-old bridge over the River Tarn and a huge Gothic cathedral as well the Fashion Museum and Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. The city’s tourist office has also devised several riverside walking routes that are worth checking out. For other days out nearby you may like to head underground at Grotte du Bosc (10 minutes), take a canoe outing on the Aveyron river from Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val (10 minutes) or climb up into the trees at Parc Aventure Saint Antonin (15 minutes). There’s also the rather tasty prospect of a trip to Musée des Arts du Sucre et du Chocolat (half an hour) to see some amazing artworks made of chocolate and taste some top-quality chocolates.
