  • Family-friendly site opposite the beach in Quiberville
  • Dieppe 25 minutes’ drive; Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer five minutes
  • Playground, games room and pétanque court on site; dogs welcome
Here’s a Seine-Maritime site whose name promises a beach… and a beach it delivers indeed. In fact, Camping de la Plage is right opposite the pebbly beach in Quiberville – a fabulous spot for fishing and surfing as well as just chilling out or having a paddle. Having the beach just over the road is a huge draw, of course – especially if you’d like to have a go at watersports activities (nearby Quiberville Yachting Club runs courses and hires out catamarans, dinghies and kayaks). This is a strategic location for the wider Normandy coast as well, though – it’s between Dieppe and Saint-Valery-en-Caux (and about 25 minutes’ drive from either), with plenty of beaches and chalk cliffs to explore nearby. When you’re not out exploring the coastline, you can relax on site with a good book or have a game of pétanque, while the children chase each other around the play area. Rainy day? No worries: there’s also a games room where the kids can keep busy and stay out of trouble… Everything’s been well thought out here – the site stretches across two hectares of land and has private pitches with electrical connection. You’ll have access to a toilet and shower block (with facilities for disabled guests), plus a washing-up area and launderette. Every morning, you can buy freshly caught shellfish and fish straight from the fishermen’s boat; for anything else you might need, there are shops and supermarkets (plus a handful of restaurants) in Quiberville.

Local attractions

Set off to explore the Normandy coast from your pitch – it won’t take long to get to places like Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer (five minutes’ drive), Veules-les-Roses (15 minutes) or Saint-Valery-en-Caux (25 minutes). The castle, beach, harbour and Estran museum in Dieppe (25 minutes) make a good day out; it's also worth taking a trip to nearby Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer (20 minutes’ walk) to see where a World War II-era German bunker toppled onto the beach. For a break from the beach, the long-distance (70 km) GR212 Randonnée trail also starts from Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer and goes all the way to Duclair, on the banks of the Seine. Mixing in some different outings, you may like to stroll through 30 acres of gorgeous gardens at Jardin Le Vasterival, check out the Renaissance architecture at Manoir d’Ango or wander among artworks at Museum Michel Ciry (all 10 minutes’ drive). A little further away, you can clamber into the trees, try axe throwing or have a go at various outdoor games at Arb’aventure (half an hour).

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: Location on the beach and near the small village.

Disliked: Emailed 3 weeks earlier to let them know we would be there at 5.30pm. We knew the reception would be closed. Turned up at 5.30pm, phoned the number given no one answered, message gave another number, no one answered. Phoned 15 times in 2 hours no one answered. We had just got off the ferry, we walked round the park but found no one working there and everything closed. Another couple were doing the same, phoning constantly and wandering around, they left too. We left as we could not get in with our Motorhome and had to find somewhere else to stay. We had just got off the ferry, not impressed. Used the grubby toilet, no toilet seats on any toilet. Some pitches looked well kept, others had long grass.

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: Another old municipal site but in a great location. Short walk to beach and seafront. Lovely restaurant on the seafront. Our only issue was the area assigned to us we physically couldn't get our van into. Went back to reception and they reassigned us a new space which was perfect. Facilities are old but useable.

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: Camping de la Plage in Quiberville, France, provided us with a delightful and rejuvenating camping experience. Nestled along the picturesque Normandy coast, this campground offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and comfortable amenities. Location (★★★★★): The location of Camping de la Plage is its most outstanding feature. Situated just a stone's throw away from the beach, we were treated to breathtaking sunsets and soothing ocean waves throughout our stay. The proximity to the beach also made it convenient for leisurely walks and lazy afternoons by the sea. Camping Facilities (★★★☆☆): While the campsite offered essential amenities, some aspects could have been improved. The washrooms and showers, although clean, could benefit from more regular maintenance. The campground's restaurant and bar were pleasant additions, offering a variety of local cuisine and drinks. Campsite Atmosphere (★★★★☆): The overall atmosphere at Camping de la Plage was tranquil and family-friendly. We appreciated the quiet hours, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The camp staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any inquiries or requests. Camping Pitches (★★★★☆): The campsite provides a variety of pitches, from shady spots under trees to open areas with a view of the sea. We opted for a spot with an ocean view, which was well worth the extra cost. The pitches were adequately sized and provided enough privacy. Local Activities (★★★★☆): The surrounding area offers a plethora of activities to enjoy. We explored the charming village of Quiberville, sampled fresh seafood at local restaurants, and took long walks along the beach. The proximity to attractions like the Cliffs of Etretat and the historic city of Dieppe added to the appeal of Camping de la Plage. Overall, Camping de la Plage provided us with a memorable camping experience in a stunning coastal setting. While there is room for improvement in some facilities, the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere more than make up for it. We left feeling refreshed and recharged, with plans to return in the future.

Disliked: Camping Facilities (★★★☆☆): While the campsite offered essential amenities, some aspects could have been improved. The washrooms and showers, although clean, could benefit from more regular maintenance. The campground's restaurant and bar were pleasant additions, offering a variety of local cuisine and drinks.

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: Good size pitch with clean shower and toilets. Only 50m from the sea front with nice local shops.

Disliked: Stayed at the campsite when the weather was nice, so enjoyed it. Being very close to the sea front, and if the weather was bad could make your stay not that enjoyable.

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: Lovely, spacious private pitch. Well spaced and very close to seafront. Quiet site even though there were many there.

Disliked: Tired and needed updating. Water supply had no actual tap! We had to use a spanner to get water. Not a great deal to be found on the sea front. Hotel near to the site but the food there was pretty dire

Electric grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: The location is excellent, really close to the beach and can even hear the sea all night long. The staff were friendly and the electric pitch was big enough for a large 6-person tent and my car. Facilities, although not 5- staff were on par with many campsites I have visited although more than one shower for women would have been good, we found it just to be a matter of timing. All facilities were kept really clean too.

Disliked: The electric point was at the end of the pitches rather than in the middle, which meant my wire, although too long in the UK, was only long enough to reach the very edge of my pitch at the other end. Fortunately we took extensions, so we’re able to set up the kitchen, but it needed to be outside all the time and although covered up it was challenging to escape the damp in the mornings. Wifi was non existent.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Close to beach Practical site layout Safe for kids Nice views Close to village

Disliked: 10am checkout, stressful with a big tent. Toilet blocks were not great. No toilet seats and they got filthy due to no urinals. Lack of English information. Most sites we've visited have the basics up in several languages. Limited reception opening hours.

Disliked: I don’t like putting this…. We were allocate a pitch that was taken , but this was soon sorted Toilets have no seat, which I found strange , also had to use my own toilet paper , The camp could do with a little upgrade it’s getting tied , The grass need cutting on some pitches ,
