General

  • Three-acre grass field enclosed by high hedges
  • Back to basics camping
  • Bakery, farm shop, butcher, café and sofa areas

Woodpecker Camping Field is next to Baird's Farm Shop, conveniently set beside the A259, and well placed for stays in the countryside, between Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

The site has basic facilities including portaloos, a washing up area and cold running water. The farm shop, stocked with groceries, logs, charcoal, fruit and vegetables is open from Wednesday to Sundays and on bank holiday Mondays. The Bakery sells sourdough breads and croissants baked by a native Frenchman; there's also a butcher where you can get your meat for the barbecue.

If you don't feel like cooking, visit the Deli Café which serves a range of quality food and drink with interesting specials and soup of the day. There are spacious sofa areas where you can relax and browse the internet.

The site added two portable gas-powered showers for guests in summer 2017, available to use at no charge.

Please note

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

flat grassy ground to pitch on. Free fire pit if I wanted to have a fire. ease of access to fire wood (available from Bairds farm shop within 3 mins walk from campsite). Bairds farm shop and café open for essential during day time. easy footpath access to beach and pub. washing up station for pots and pans. showers and w.c. available - don't be put off by the look of the showers from the outside, they were incredibly effective! friendly staff.
Short walk to local pub selling good food, lovely atmosphere.
Camped on my own so cannot comment about facilities for children but family was present with 2 small children, they didn't seem to have any problems.
wifi accessible on my own phone network....don't know if site had wifi - didn't ask.
    Able to park by tent.

    Disliked:

only 1 w.c. and 2 showers....if busier this could be a problem for size of site. Nowhere to dry self after shower other than in the shower cubicle.
expensive for camping but location so close to beach and other facilities will have contributed to the cost.
Weather and my own leaky tent!

Well maintained site- two porta showers, 2 flushing toilets with running water and two chemical toilets. Short walk to great pub ( The Black Horse ). Walking distance to Climping Beach. Field was busy when we arrived but not noisy and other campers were friendly.
We were met with a friendly owner who walked us to our site and we were given a map with contact details and pass codes for the two security gates.
The farm shop cafe has a good butchers and bakery on site and was much bigger than we expected. We stayed 5 nights and were sorry to leave.

    Disliked:

Maybe a recycling bin would be worth considering as currently it's just a couple of big Biffa bins for everything.

We had a very friendly welcome and provided with all the information about the site. Whilst close to the road, the location was great for access to the beach, great walks and local pubs. The showers were hot and facilities very clean. The site was not over crowded and camp fires are allowed.

Such a relaxing time had by all of us :) we have all decided we want to go back . Alison was very helpful and kept the toilets clean . There was always toilet roll and antibacterial gel. We couldn't hire a fire pit but Alison helped us to use something else. Road didn't keep any of us up . Alison was very helpful as were all of the staff in the farm shop. Farm shop reasonable prices as is the camping pitch.

    Disliked:

Sat nav confusion ended up in random field behind, must make sure you go to farm shop.

    The croissant.
Accommodating owner, Alison, ensuring we had a suitable pitch for our group needs in a lovely flat field. Facilities basic but we knew that before we booked and were sufficient for us. They were checked regularly and the showers mostly had good hot water, with just the occasional switching hot-cold-hot.
Great location for the beach and a couple of pubs.
Even arranged fantastic weather for us.
And the croissant. Did I mention the croissant? Delicieux!!! (and the warm baguette, only half of which wasn't scoffed en-route back to the tent).

    Disliked:

Very basic washing up facilities, with only cold water (unless you boiled your own), but just about did the job.
Otherwise, nothing. Had a lovely few days.
