General

  • Family-friendly park with indoor and outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi
  • Soft play room, adventure playground and lots of summer activities
  • Varied programme of evening entertainment including outdoor cinema

Along with the white cliffs, the kaleidoscopic vista of golden sands, turquoise seas and forest green hills at this family-friendly site will leave you tickled pink.

At Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park there’s a roomy outdoor swimming pool, as well as an indoor version with Jacuzzi, toddler pool and water flume. Diminutive campers can have fun exploring the soft play room, adventure playgrounds, mini golf and diverse activities laid on in summertime (metal detecting on the beach, exploding volcano experiments, flying remote-controlled helicopters...)

The evenings ring in some good quality family fun too. No jazz hands here: the cabaret includes top artists from the West End belting out rock anthems and the like; and in the summer months, there are atmospheric outdoor film screenings on the lawns looking out over the bay.

All bookings include free entertainment passes for the use of the site facilities including the indoor and outdoor pools and the Culver Club for evening entertainment. Another nice touch is the new 'Magic Lounge About' programme of events in high season: guests can burrow into a beanbag with a beer from the bar, and enjoy talks and demonstrations from local businesses on everything from ice cream to llamas...

Park was in a good location.

    Disliked:

Camping area was out of the way to the beach and amenities (aside from the toilet and shower facilities which were close by). Shower and toilet facilities fell under expectations for cleanliness. Customer service was under par.

play park for the children when dry weather,
camp wide Wi-Fi was just about useable

    Disliked:

as non drinkers nothing on site to do,
when wet no play barns or covered play areas,
as disabled had to use car to get to the toilets/showers even though requested pitches close to toilets/shower blocks,
all the better amenities are on the caravan side of the camp so again as disabled with young grandchildren had to use car to get from tent pitches to pools as main road a problem,
no fire breaks between tent pitches packed in like sardines if one goes up the lot will
toilet block always wet on floor due to showers and not always clean

Large site, pools, bars, night club, shops, short walk to beach. 18/07/2016

  • Liked:

The pitch size was quite large for my small tent. I was allowed to park alongside the tent and fresh water and all facilities were just a short walk away and generally very well kept. Plenty of hot water in the showers. Very good value for money. The location was great for walking, and gaining access to the coastal path which was what I wanted. The standard of food was pretty good in the Nab bar. I didn't use the pool or the night club but both seemed popular. I stood and watched some of the activities and they looked like a lot of fun so even teenagers will love it.

    Disliked:

Being a dog friendly site far too many people had dogs, which was mostly ok and surprisingly quiet, I just didn't like the idea of them walking their dogs around me and not always on a lead, and at 2am on one occasion, though I didn't mention it to anyone and it never happened again. Sometimes waiting for service in the Nab bar there was a queue of more than ten people and only one person serving when there were two till's I couldn't really understand why. The cutlery was always running low. This place needed a manager, has it got one? where were they? Food was always worth waiting for but people were definitely stressed whilst waiting to order drinks and others were ordering several meals.

Grass site on slope with poor drainage so can become very muddy in wet weather.
Camp site on opposite side of road away from main park facilities so one can feel a little isolated, entrance on rather a nasty bend.

The entertainment and the pool and crazy golf, and close to beach which was great.

    Disliked:

The pitch sizes were very tight and was not enough space between each plot, no 3 meter fire break between them so no privacy and if a fire broke out it could be quite bad. Also after rain the pitches were left so uneven that when they dried out it made it so it werent flat after tire marks churned up the mud leaving them unusable. Apart from that ok.

Directions

From Ryde (Isle of Wight)
Take the A3055 towards Sandown. Go through Brading and turn left at the Yarbridge Cross traffic lights heading towards Bembridge. It's a bendy road so take your time. After 2 miles or so you will pass the Propeller Inn on your left, take the next right. We are about 1 minute on your right-hand side.

Local attractions

One of the attractions of the Isle of Wight is that so much is crammed into a relatively small area, and guests can easily get to all the major sights simply by jumping on a bus outside the park.

Budding zoologists are spoiled for choice: as well as the Owl and Monkey Haven, there are tigers and big cats at the Isle of Wight Zoo, alpacas, penguins and meerkats at the Seaview Wildlife Encounter, and over 200 species on view at the Amazon World Zoo Park.

There’s also a donkey sanctuary at Carisbrooke Castle, where visitors can see where King Charles I was banged up (instead of bawling, he went bowling, and you can still play on the very same green).

Historical types should also check out Osbourne House, the seaside palace where Queen Vicky, Bertie and brood used to come to top up their tans, or take a tour of the mosaics and Roman jewellery on display at Brading Roman Villa.

If the sun is shining, the obvious choice is Sandown beach, for sandpies and swimming, followed by dodgems on the pier, or a visit to the animated dinosaurs at Dinosaur Isle. It’s also worth taking a boat trip to see the iconic chalk stacks and lighthouse at the Needles, or going loco on the Havenstreet Steam Railway.

For oohs, aahs and eeks, Blackgang Chine has loads of exciting and eccentric rides and exhibits crammed into 40 acres of Victorian gardens, and there’s a toboggan run, 3D maze and more rollercoasters at its sister theme park, Robin Hill.

If it’s raining, Dad could be dispatched to Ryde to take the kids ice-skating or bowling, while Mum pays a visit to the jewellery collection at Isle of Wight Pearl (and maybe comes home with a piece made from the contents of an oyster personally plucked from the 'Pick a Pearl' pool...).

Must see

  • Dinosaur Isle (2.3 miles)
  • Isle of Wight Steam Railway (5.6 miles)
  • Royal Marines Museum (7.9 miles)

  • Bembridge Windmill (0.7 miles)
  • Brighstone Shop and Museum (13.3 miles)

Additional terms

The person making the booking is responsible for the booking and by signing that he/she is over 21 years of age also warrants that the party is as stated and that he/she is included and will be present.

All caravan and camping guests are requested that when setting up, a three-metre gap is maintained between your own caravan/motor home or tent accommodation and your neighbours’ accommodation. Jumbo tents/motor homes may not fit on one pitch (approximately 10m by 10m) when allowing for any awning and the mandatory minimum 3 metre fire break between units. In this event, guests must book an additional pitch. If after arrival it is found that the combined dimensions of the tent/motorhome/fire break exceed the pitch area, guests will be charged for an additional pitch and may be asked to re-site. Guests with caravans/motorhomes are not permitted to erect tents on the same pitch but may erect one awning. Camping guests may erect one tent per pitch. Please note that trailer tents are regarded by us as tents.

Anyone not adhering to this will be asked to move. Electric hook-ups are rated at 16-amps/3680 watts 230v supply. Please do not exceed this limit.

For some facilities and entertainment venues, wheelchair access may be limited.

Dogs are not allowed inside any facility buildings, restaurants, food serving areas and swimming pool areas. These restrictions are not applicable to guide dogs.

Please note that guests must be over one metre tall to use our swimming pool flume. Children under eight years old must be accompanied by an adult in the water of the swimming pool.

It is possible that in some circumstances accommodation, entertainment or a facility may have to be temporarily withdrawn, due to maintenance, renovation, adverse weather conditions, changes in governmental legislation, or any other factor outside our control. We reserve the right to make such alterations in the above circumstances without prior notice.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your holiday, firstly please speak to our Park Reception. However, if you are still dissatisfied, you must see the General Manager and record your complaint. If, at the end of your holiday, you feel that we have not dealt with your complaint satisfactorily, please write to the General Manager at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park no later than 28 days after the end of your holiday. We are only able to take action on any complaints that are first brought to the attention of the General Manager during your holiday.
