  • Family-friendly site by large lake for fishing, swimming and canoeing
  • Hike from site through meadow and woods; bike and walking paths nearby
  • Swimming pool, playground, bar and restaurant on site
Looking for a spot from which you can stroll out for scenic walks or take to the water for fishing and canoeing? You’ve found it at the family-friendly Camping Le Soustran, in Neuvic, Corrèze. Head out for hikes or bike rides directly from the site, across the meadows and into woodland. From there, there are plenty of paths and trails to link up with in the area, so you can really soak up stacks of superb scenery. If you’re more of a water person, there’s a large lake – Lac de Triouzoune – a short walk from the site, where you can fish, swim and take boat trips (perhaps renting canoes from the site owners)… or just chill on the sandy and grassy surrounds. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s back to base to snaffle snacks and fries in the small restaurant or a drink at the bar, which also serves up French appetisers and ice cream. There’s also a lounge and a covered terrace area if you fancy mingling. If the kids are in tow, they should be kept entertained on-site with trampolines, a playground and a sandpit. And there’s plenty of sporty stuff to amuse the whole gang, including pétanque, table tennis, a pool table and table football. And as an added bonus, there's a swimming pool to splash about in. Guests also have use of a toilet and shower block with hot water, a washing-up area, and a washing machine and dryer.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The owners were delightful. Small and friendly site but, with enough to do for the children - park, trampolines, small pool. Bar for the adults!!!! (Perfect aperol spritz!) The amenities are fantastic - great showers, lots of toilets, equipment for babies and small children, laundry facilities and all spotlessly clean. Amazing location next to the beautiful Neuvic lac et plage.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing....we will be returning.

Local attractions

The pretty scenes continue with ventures further afield. Combine walks with a look at the Viaduc des Rochers Noirs (half an hour's drive), a viaduct opened in 1913 that straddles the Luzège gorges and was previously used as a railway bridge. Legs not quite stretched enough yet? Head out to explore the gorges and valleys of the nearby Dordogne Valley. More adventures might involve a tour taking in the various waterfalls at Les Cascades de Gimel (45 minutes) or slipping below the surface to explore the caves of Gouffre de Padirac (an hour and a half). For kid-friendly days, ziplining and treetop adventures can be had at Val Aventure (40 minutes), on the site of Val Castle. Other options include Vulcania (one hour), a volcano-themed amusement park and museum, and the Loups de Chabrières (an hour and three quarters), a wolf sanctuary in the pretty Monts de Guéret.
