Equestrian enthusiasts and shopping fans alike are catered for at the Burghley Horse Trials. Along with dressage, cross country and jumping competitions, this three-day event hosts a range of independent vendors selling goods for humans as well as horses. There's also plenty more entertainment to check out – don’t miss the animal-themed antics at the Shetland Pony Grand National or the Field Gundog Display.
Admire the scenic venue by day – the grounds of a 16th-century country house near Stamford – then move on to an equally lovely campsite near Burghley Horse Trials each night. There are luxury glamping options with hot tubs to choose from, along with low-key spots where you can soak up the rural surroundings. Decide between all sorts of pretty places, from wild woodlands and fruit-filled orchards to well-kept working farms and fisheries.
