Cresslands Touring Park: Entering into the touring park

General

  • Peaceful touring site near Bourne, Lincolnshire
  • Beautiful location near a river and woodland; dogs are welcome
  • Close to historic city of Stamford and the famed Burghley House

Grab the dog (if you've got one – no need to acquire one specially) and head to Cresslands Touring Park in South Lincolnshire for woodland walks and lazy days near the River Glen. A good base for exploring the surroundings and enjoying a bit of outdoor time, the park is five minutes from a peaceful woodland, for long walks and spotting wildlife. Guests can also head to the nearby river for a bit of fishing, or take bikes out onto quiet countryside lanes.

Not got a mutt? The site's also welcoming to cats, rabbits… even kids. Whoever's in your party, head to the opposite riverbank for a popular walking spot leading to the nature reserve along the Macmillan Way, a long-distance footpath linking Boston in Lincolnshire to Abbotsbury in Dorset.

After all that fresh air you won’t have to venture far for a drink and a bite to eat – Waterside Garden Centre is 500 metres away with a restaurant, and there are a few pubs around a mile away if you fancy some pub grub. Cresslands is four miles south of Bourne, which has a greater selection of eateries, and the historic city of Stamford, with its attractions such as the famed Burghley House and Park and open-air theatre, is about a 25-minute drive.

Bathroom facilities on site include two showers, two toilets and two wash basins with instant hot water and nifty extras including shaver ports and hand dryers.

Please note

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quiet and very pleasant site. The stringent COVID rules in place worked well to ensure the safety of all visitors. The owner, David, is extremely helpful and gives full consideration to his guests. 10 out of 10 from us. We will be visiting again next year.

Loved everything about this place. Its only about 5 years old and you can see the hard work that's gone into it, the trees and hedges are maturing. Dave, who owns the place, keeps the showers/toilets spotless and is on hand should you need anything. Definitely will go back and highly recommend.

This was our second stay at cresslands,we travel up to spend time with family who live locally. It ticks every box for us,easy to find, great access, big level pitches, immaculate toilet/shower block with a great red light/occupied system so you have sole use, which is great for girls travelling alone!
The grounds are fantastic, lots of lovely areas to set up a picnic next to the river..it’s just brilliantly set out and so much thought has gone into it!
Best of all,David is always on hand to help if you need him..brilliant for us as caravan newbies..happy to help with reversing, setting up..or lending anything from a hose..longer hook up cable..or a corkscrew!!!
We just had a brilliant time and will be regular visitors!

Level, good sized, gravel pitches with plenty of grassed areas to sit out in and hedging between so feels private. Fully serviced pitch so didn’t use the shower block, but looked clean and good COVID arrangements in place so each pitch can have sole use. Lovely walk along the river on the opposite bank with swans, dragonflies and kites, large garden centre opposite with nice cafe, convenient for Bourne, Stamford, which is lovely especially on market days, and Spalding. Couple of pubs nearby, woodland walks, and we went to the outside Shakespeare theatre at Tolethorpe Hall which is a nice experience. Family run and owner is really helpful, site is secure, well thought out and maintained, with a bird hide to spot kingfishers and rabbits popping out at dusk. Nice touches like a brick bbq and cute seating circle made from tree stumps. Checking in was quick and easy, little tuck shop on site and garage with shop on the doorstep. We were even offered a lift into Stamford, which was so kind (not sure this is usually part of the service though!) but reflects the care that goes into the place. No WiFi (which isn’t a bad thing!) - phone and tv signal was good. Only downside to the convenient location off the A15 is that there is some road noise, despite the hedges and fencing, but other than that it’s pretty near perfect and the other half loved not having to fetch and carry water!

Go wandering in Bourne Woods, a peaceful and ancient woodland around five minutes away by car, or give your legs a real workout by linking up with the Macmillan Way for 290 miles of footpath crossing the Lincolnshire Fens.

Visit Burghley House and Park, a 16th-century country house near Stamford (25 minutes by car), built for Elizabeth I's lucky Lord High Treasurer Lord Burghley. Sights to see include the Great Hall with hammer beam roof, collections of 17th-century Italian paintings, the gorgeous Heaven Room painted by Verrio, and the gardens packed with sculptures, flowers and plants.

While in Stamford, pay visits to All Saints Church and the Stamford Arts Centre, home to art galleries and the tourist info centre. Another option in town is All Saints Brewery, for guided tours of the microbrewery and tastings of its specialised fruit beers.
