  • Access to fishing, watersports, golf and miles of walking/bike paths
  • Caravan and Motorhome Club site open to non-members, with member rates
If you like the idea of parking up somewhere and finding lots of activities right there to save you driving all over the place, you should be happy with the situation at Ferry Meadows Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. This site is within Ferry Meadows Country Park, just outside Peterborough and known as one of the area’s top destinations for outdoor activities. The country park (part of the larger Nene Park Trust) has a fabulous 650 acres to explore while you're here, with 60 miles of off-road cycleways and walking trails plus two golf courses, a watersports centre and various other activities including archery and climbing. And if that’s all too tiring, you can opt for a boat trip or steam train ride instead… This Cambridgeshire campsite makes a great base for a break in these attractive surroundings. It’s managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club but you don’t need to be a member to stay. The price displayed is the member rate; non-members pay a £15/night extra charge. It's certainly worth considering membership if you're likely to spend more than four nights at a Caravan and Motorhome Club site over the coming year; the £69 annual fee entitles you to discounted rates at more than 140 UK Club sites plus a raft of other perks, like access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. The pitches here are spacious and well maintained, with access to a launderette, a chemical disposal point and well-appointed bathrooms with accessible facilities and baby/toddler rooms. There’s a kids' play area and a dog play area to ensure everyone can have a run about – and there’s a family-friendly pub 10 minutes' walk away for easy meals.

What customers say

Staff are consistently praised as friendly, helpful, and excellent. Guests appreciate the clean facilities, good-sized pitches, and the site's excellent location near Nene Park, a steam railway, pubs, and walking/cycling routes. Food vendors add to the experience. Some reviews mention older toilet and shower blocks but note they are clean. A few guests found the check-in process disorganised and the pitches close together. WiFi is reported as patchy by one guest.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Well maintained site, plenty of water/waste disposal points

Small off lead dog area

Close to Ferry Meadows park and a couple of bars/restaurants

Could choose on pitch on arrival

Good play area

Staff friendly

Disliked Site split into 2, with wardens on opposite side of the road to the part we were on, not great from a security point of view.

Toilet/shower block closed for 2 hours 10 to 12 every day, seemed a long time and at a bad time too, generally around the time we're getting ready to go out for the day

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Staff were lovely and helpful, even in my moment of stress with a vehicle issue, running late and setting up in my pitch outside of their guidelines (not a rookie, just exhausted from the long day).
The site was really clean and tidy, nice and spacious toilet/shower block, pitch was massive and had no issues.
Great kids playing area!

Disliked I disliked my morning routine, my timings always coincided with their 1 hour close of the shower block when I headed over for one... Not their fault at all.
No complaints about anything!

Local attractions

The activities at the park may well fill much of your time while you're here, but you may like to explore further afield from time to time – maybe heading in to the centre of Peterborough (10 minutes’ drive) for shopping, meals, movies and indoor activities like ice skating, bowling and swimming. Peterborough has a bit of heritage to explore too – notably the cathedral and the Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery. Around the city, places like John Clare Cottage, Museum, Café and Gardens (20 minutes) and Flag Fen Archaeology Park (25 minutes) are also worth checking out. Kids are likely to be very taken with a day out at Sacrewell Farm (15 minutes), which has a sensory garden, a playbarn and a working water mill as well as lots of cute animals to meet. There’s also the chance to see species from around the world at the Exotic Pet Refuge (25 minutes), run by an animal rescue and rehab charity.
