  • Peaceful dog-friendly farm site in the Staffordshire countryside
  • On the Granite Way; 20 mins' drive to the Peak District National Park
  • Barbecues allowed; pubs, restaurants and food shops nearby
Setting off for Staffordshire with walking boots in hand? You can certainly give them a good workout while staying at Higher Whitemore Farm, just outside the little town of Biddulph and about a 10-minute drive from Congleton. The views from here look out over the countryside of Staffordshire and Cheshire, giving something of a hint as to some of the places you might be able to get out for a ramble nearby. You can wander straight out onto footpaths just outside the site – the Gritstone Way passes by, and there are also great trails leading to Biddulph Grange Gardens or Mow Cop Castle (handily passing several pubs along the way…) On top of all that, you’ll be close to walks along local canals, climbs up to the top of The Cloud for stunning views, and wanders around some fab National Trust estates too. A cycle path runs past the site too, on its route from Congleton to Biddulph, and there are plenty of places to go fishing. And if all that’s not enough to satisfy your ambitions, it’s worth noting that the Derbyshire border is close by too – and the edge of the Peak District National Park about 20 minutes’ drive away. If this sounds like something your dog might enjoy too, there’s good news in that dogs are welcome on site, and even provided with their own dog park to have a run about off lead. There’s plenty of space for kids to play in the woodland parts of the farm too, and you’re welcome to set up barbecues as well.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The views are spectacular.

Disliked: We were confronted almost immediately when we arrived and told we had not paid enough. £20 sounded reasonable for five people on a sloping field with nothing but a portaloo but apparently she charges per tent so she wanted another £4O from us up front. Safe to say we left after one night. Also its important to note that its right next to a motorbike race field so be prepared for constant engines! We weren't terribly impressed to say the least.

From the manager: We don’t think they understand it’s per tent not for 5 adults. Confronted was due to me working in the garden as they where dropped off, They had the pick of were to tent, They so untrue with comments.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: There are some animals hear and the views are beautiful, some nice walks hear.

Disliked: The camp site was sectioned off, it was on a slant so by the time you woke up you was all sleeping at the bottom of the tent, the toilet is 1 porta loo stinks realy bad very dirty and many use it, there is a motorcross loop right next to the sectioned off tent pitch site which is very noisy through the day and so close to the road that if you have kids you need to watch them constantly especialy if they want to go to the toilet as the porta loo is on the track very bizzy traffic, i think the worst thing about our trip was there was many young people in tebts music blastic past twelve at night with there kids still running riot screamin after midnight, to the point all my kids had been woken up, this is not at all a kid friendly place so avoid in this respect, if your solo for a day its not a bad stop off for a campervan off grid but i wouldnt advice this place to anyone else, there are better nicer cleaner safer quiter places to go close by.

From the manager: This a wild camping site we no need to have had toilets but can not understand y you didn’t come to the farm house like you would do, I don’t think you can blame us for the Kids running around late but bet they were still a sleep next morning, I didn’t hear anything and my bedroom was close by. This is just a pop up site, think you should look at full set up site, Sorry for your comments noted

We enjoyed our 2 night stay, the scenery was lovey.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The view, farm animals and the clean portaloo.

Disliked: The bikers early on Sunday morning on the track very close to our tent. We weren't sure if we met the owners which was a bit strange, however a friend who we saw working on the farm popped up to check we were OK.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Wild-camping feeling

Disliked: Although the reservation showed "multiple pitches allowed" we had to pay for our tiny second tent. The price was £20. Ad ee did have any cash, I booked a second pitch through Pitchup, where the price was only £16 and I had to add a dog we don't have to meet the required price. And, although clean, the dixie toilet did not flush...

From the manager: Pitch up fee is £20 as I have been on and checked you payed 20 on booking for 1 tent I can not understand where you get the 17 from, Sorry that you feel it was not right but I don’t think you understand the booking site, Wild camping means wild. Toilet most have got a problem working now
