  • Family-friendly farm site on the coast path two miles from Tenby
  • By a secluded cove 15 minutes' walk or 5 minutes' drive from the beach
  • Toilets, hot showers, farm shop, café, living room and hammock
Welsh coast – check. Pembrokeshire and Tenby coasts – check and check. And the isolated little cove of Becks Bay, home to this fab and friendly site on a Pembrokeshire farm – check this one off your Welsh holiday list by booking a stay at Becks Bay Camping. Set just back from the coast, Becks Bay Camping is in green, open and scenic space on part of Bubbleton Farm, a couple of miles from Tenby. It's a relaxed place where campfires and roaming around outdoors are both firmly encouraged, and where kids are welcome to meet and feed the farm animals. As it's Pembrokeshire, famed beaches are all around… It's a 15-minute walk to the sands of Lydstep from here, half an hour's amble – or 10 minutes by car – to Tenby South beach, and 10 minutes' drive to more sands at Saundersfoot, all part of a round dozen spectacular beaches within a 15-minute drive. If your foodie vibes just tingled at the word 'farm', you'll no doubt be pleased to hear there's a farm shop here too. Amble across the fields from the site to reach the Bubbleton Farm shop and café, both laden with fresh local Pembrokeshire produce to have there or take away, indoors or out, while the kids entertain themselves feeding the hens and sheep. Also at your disposal are toilets, two hot showers, a living room and – Pembrokeshire bay bliss – a hammock to laze in amid this stunning setting.

Sand Top 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub, private bathroom amenities)

Liked: Amazing location - walkable from Penally train station with the Pembrokeshire coastal trail literally on our doorstep. Tom was incredibly friendly and helpful, delivering us extra wood and making sure we had everything we needed. Farm shop was closed by and had lots of delicious food, we brought quite a bit of food with us but didn't really need it! Hot tub was amazing, it's connected to a log burner so needs a couple of hours to heat up - but so worth it for a spa under the stars! The hut is in a secluded spot behind the campground proper, super private and lovely. Inside is cosy with a log burner, comfy bed and armchairs for a beautiful view of the sunrise. There's a covered table outside, lean-to kitchen and bathroom (with hot shower!). Ten minutes from Tenby on the bus, or an hour walk. Also walkable along the cliff path to Manorbier and the surrounds. Loved it, highly recommend.

Disliked: Good idea to bring a few bits and bobs if you're planning to cook, like a sharp knife, tea towels etc

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We loved the feel of the site. Basic but very clean with well designed facilities. Big pitches and close to the coast path. Tom was great at checking in on everyone as the weather was really awful, gales and torrential rain both nights. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

Bell tent

Liked: The place, atmosphere, staff and owner, are all amazing. It's nice and quiet in the bell tents with some stunning views less than a minute away. The farm shop and cafe is something you must experience. The food is stunning and live music / bbq on a Thursday is great!

Disliked: Nothing. If they ever added a log burner to the bell tents in the future, that would be a really good feature. Little cold this summer with the weather, but not that cold to make a negative impact, just a log burner to take off the edge of those colder nights would be good. The yurt has a log burner for those needing that.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Everything! Hygiene was superb, every other day coming around to empty the bins and it’s all recycled properly, even down to the food. Can purchase things on sight but noticed a lot of people dishonest. Costal path which is superbly accessible, designed and navigable through signs. Toilet & shower facilities superb.

Disliked: Not much to dislike. As an experienced hiker & family camper it’s everything we needed. Close to petrol station (5-6 min drive) & close (40min walk) to Tenby!

Bell tent

Liked: Everything! We've just come back from the best weekend at becks bay. We stayed in a bell tent and it was perfect! Comfy, warm beds, plenty of space, plates, cups, cutlery and cooking utensils provided plus a super handy cool box! The site itself is basic and clean and really well maintained. Lots of space for the kids to run around safely. We LOVED how sustainable everything was.. using solar power for usb chargers and lights in the bell tent and all lighting around the site was solar . Huge bonuses were the picnic bench and bbq/fire pit for every bell tent! The sheltered kitchen and washing up areas were also a huge bonus with everything you need! kettles, pans, mugs, extra plates..it was all there! Beautiful views, short drive in to Tenby and Tom was super helpful. especially as Friday was a VERY windy night and you could tell he was so concerned that we wouldn't sleep, he even parked a tractor in front of the tent overnight to break the wind a bit! We already can't wait to get back and will be booking for next year ASAP.

Disliked: Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely location, good number for a small camping. A farm shop was a great bonus. Had a lovely breakfast up there and the shop is great for a camp.

Disliked: The toilets and showers were not clean to my expectation. I booked this place as reviews said - clean. Probably it was a very clean place... Wales are lacking seasonal staff. Lots of notes around- staff wanted.

Local attractions

Beaches, castles, coasteering, climbing, abseiling and of course Pembrokeshire surfing are among the top pursuits around the farm, along with fab family days at the likes of Folly Farm 15 minutes' drive away. The closest beach is the sand and pebble stretch of Lydstep, just over a mile away; hail the bus from the stop a few minutes from the farm if you're not up for the walk or drive. From Lydstep, it's another mile or so to the award-winning Tenby South beach and its mile and a half of sand backed by dunes. A wander around town is recommended too, for shops, restaurants, pubs and the tourist information centre. There's a huge pick of family-friendly attractions in Pembrokeshire if you're here with kids (and if you can prise them away from the beach), starting with the rides, maze and indoor and outdoor amusements of Heatherton World of Activities, under 10 minutes away at Tenby. The country's biggest theme park, Oakwood, and the Bluestone Adventure Centre are both 25 minutes' drive away at Narberth, and quad biking is 10 minutes away at Ritec Valley.
