  • Spacious and well-equipped bespoke cabin at a Perthshire arable farm
  • A 25-minute drive from Perth, with lots of Highland hikes nearby
  • Luxury accommodation including ensuite bathroom and kingsize bed
The owners of The Pigsty at South Ardbennie Farm have been farming here in the Perthshire countryside since the 1980s – and even one look at the pics should give you a good idea of why this particular location, 10 minutes’ drive from Crieff, appealed so much. This is a glorious spot indeed, with fabulous views all around and a real diversity of wildlife to look out for. The farm is made up of arable fields – mainly wheat, barley and beans – but the views are too good to be kept for the crops, so the owners decided to open their place up to glamping guests as well. The glamping unit is affectionately known as the ‘pigsty’ but it’d be a lucky porker indeed that got to spend their days in this luxury accommodation. The name came about because of the shape of the cabin’s outline, but it’s very much a bespoke high-end place to stay rather than a repurposed animal shelter. This hand-built wooden cabin is spacious and stylish, with top-quality furnishings, heating and plenty of sumptuous furnishings to make it a cosy place for a break for two. Inside there’s a kingsize bed, a smart ensuite shower room and a well-equipped kitchen (with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster); outside, the deck area has a barbecue and outdoor seating where you can chill out and soak up the views (possibly with a glass of something in hand?) As you can probably guess from the rural views, this is a fantastic area for outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking and golf – but with Perth less than half an hour’s drive away you can mix up city wanders too if you like.
