Liked Location to the beach

Disliked Reception closed on arrival, had to search around for someone to check in. No information shared with us such as location of shower rooms, Elson point, bins etc. we we were only told where the water hose was and then pointed towards an empty field.

Liked A return visit for us, our first visit had a big impression! Great sized pitches with a picnic bench. Beautiful views Swimming pool is perfect WiFi signal is good at a cost of £5 per day I would return but not while the new shower block is being built

Disliked Workmen just behind our van firing up the stilsaw at 7.45am. Not what you want when your on holiday. Showers, push the bottom for 3 seconds of water

It’s always great to welcome returning guests. We’re sorry that the washroom upgrade works impacted your stay. All bookings were advised in advance that essential improvement work would be taking place during this period, including the construction of the new shower block, but we fully understand that early morning noise — particularly from machinery — is not ideal when you’re on holiday. The current push‑button showers are part of the existing facilities and are one of the main reasons for the upgrade. The new block is being designed to improve water pressure and overall comfort — sometimes improvements mean short‑term inconvenience, but we’re careful to make these changes without breaking eggs, so to speak. Thank you again for your understanding and your honest feedback. Once the new facilities are complete, we would love the opportunity to welcome you back for a more relaxed and uninterrupted stay. From the manager: Hello Rebecca, we understand that our rural site is not to everyone's taste; it all depends on what a guest is looking for but we a located next to a lake and are just a few minutes drive from Castle Howard. We are great as a quiet and peacful base to return to after exploring the beautiful Howardian Hills or further afield. Being so close to the city of York, the North York Moors, small market towns with historic castles, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land, and only 28 miles from the coast we think our site is ideally placed to have something for everyone and the 2-4-1 offer for entry in to the grounds of Castle Howard is an added bonus.

Disliked In one of the shower blocks the cubicles are too small, only 1 peg to hand things. Most of my clothes etc got wet. Push button shower that lasts for 5 seconds and unable to control the temperature which was an issue as I have ms. All week the alternative shower block was closed off. Having to carry waste water from one end of the site to the other

Liked Everything about the site and the staff. What a hidden gem. Situated in a beautiful spot with sea views. Five mins walk to a stunning beach. On site there's an enclosed dog area, full of toys etc. On site the pitches are immaculate. Excellent shower block with really special personal touches. You can tell that the staff really care. Lady on reception (blonde curly hair) such a bubbly character and so helpful throughout our stay. Already booked to return in October
