Morfa Bychan Holiday Park: looking south, over the non electric pitches towards the seasonal pitches

General

  • Clifftop site with stunning sea views out towards Cardigan Bay
  • Under 15 minutes' drive from Aberystwyth
  • Outdoor heated pool, playground and social room

What a beaut. And it's an award-winner too: carve out as much time as you can to stay at Morfa Bychan Holiday Park, on a Ceredigion clifftop overlooking stunning Cardigan Bay.

As you'll see from the pics, spectacular sea views are all around here, so you can be basking among these Welsh coast views as soon as you arrive (barbecues are allowed for those who prefer to bask among coastal views while their other half preps the alfresco eats). Beach access is a cinch too, as famed seaside resort of Aberystwyth is within six miles, and the park has direct access to its own pebble beach for shore walks, fishing, boating, rockpooling and surfing.

There's loads of room for kids to run around on the park and on the beach; should they inexplicably tire of this, take them along to Morfa's pirate ship play area to swashbuckle and swing. The heated outdoor summer pool and spacious grassy area alongside are other popular family spots, as is the Social Room space with board and computer games, TV, pool tables and air hockey.

The friendly team are on hand to help with whatever you might need, whether it's assistance in getting set up when you arrive or sharing their tips on the (many) top places to make for in the region. There's a stack of tourist info at the site reception to aid your decision-making further and give you something to read while your other half sorts out the coffee…

We wanted a short break in our caravan in Aberystwyth and found this site online. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, helping us set the caravan up and assisting when we left the site. Due to COVID the site facilities were closed but we had facilities in the caravan so no bother. The electric hook up and water were close to where we set up and the pitch, although on a slight slope, was in good condition. The views from the caravan were stunning and the site is very well maintained.

    Disliked:

Although the views were stunning, the fact that you are on a cliff site means that in bad weather there is no shelter and you get the full force of the wind but I would trade that any day for the views we had. The roads leading to the site are vary narrow with few passing places if you have a caravan hooked up but due to the time allocations for arrival and leaving this did not cause any problem for us.

From the manager...

Thank you.
Some good advise to remind others to take heed on arrival & departure times.
Also, its not that we don’t like awnings, we know that sometimes we do get a ‘breeze’ off the sea.

The site was fantastic!! The views on the approach were breath taking, then when we arrived (late due to bank holiday weekend traffic, 3hour journey took over 5 hours) at 9pm the site wardens came out and showed us where our pitch was and even helped us set up and level the caravan. We have never had this type of service before on a site. Wardens were top class, friendly, approachable and couldn't do enough for us, honestly a 5* service. Once pitched the views over the water were stunning with a handy park on site for the kids to play. We will definitely be returning.

We absolutely loved this site, the view is amazing & the site is very clean, lovely park if you’ve got younger children & the pool be an added bonus when open, the lane driving in is a bit of a nightmare if you meet anything big then you’ve got problems.

    Disliked:

The only thing we was disappointed about is that you ain’t allowed fire pits not even of the ground ones, we asked when we arrived & was told no, then the caravans that were in front of us lit theirs & had a lovely lovely warm fire 🔥🤦‍♀️

From the manager...

Thank you for your review it is very much appreciated to receive positive and negative comments so we are able to better ourselves.
You are right, we do not allow fire pits of any description, this is to prevent fire spreading to adjoining units, barbecues we are happy with to cook food but not to turn into an open fire.
We will be speaking to our wardens to ensure they undertake their late night walk around duties more vigilantly to ensure individuals are not ignoring our request and lighting fires.
It is always worth speaking to the duty wardens on any camp site if you see anything like this in the future as we cannot see everything that goes on all the time.

Local attractions

The Wales Coast Path runs through the park and is easily accessible via kissing gates. The path runs for a whopping 870 miles from Chepstow in the south to Queensferry in the north: potter the few miles to Aberystwyth and then – for the energetic – hike further for 10 miles on the linked Ceredigion Coast Path to its finishing point at Ynyslas.

Aberystwyth, 15 minutes' drive away, has stacks to do in and out of peak season, including a harbour to wander around, the National Library of Wales and the Aberystwyth Arts Centre for indoor days, and a buzzing nightlife with pubs, gigs and eateries aplenty. The same distance in the other direction will land you at Llanrhystud, a popular spot in summer for beaches, watersports and fishing.

Nature spotting and birdwatching are easily accessed in the area too, either under your own steam or via a dolphin and seal safari trip around Cardigan Bay. Ensure your marine mammal sightings – recommended if you possess fractious offspring – with a trip to the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre at New Quay; boat trips can be booked from here too.
