Set in a peaceful location 500 metres from the coast, Camping Cudillero is a popular family campsite in Asturias. This site is close to lots of scenic spots, including dramatic cliffs, old lighthouses, traditional old fishing boats, towns with narrow pedestrian streets and inviting white-sand beaches. The area is well-known locally for its laidback feel, which you can experience for yourself in the pretty town of Cudillero, the centre of which is under five minutes' drive from base. Surrounded by trees and greenery, the pitches at Camping Cudillero are spacious and well-maintained. There are good facilities for campers, including an area for filling up and emptying out water, toilets, showers and a manual chemical disposal point. Well-behaved pets (on leads, por favor) are welcome to join you, and leisure facilities like a kids' play area and bike hire are other nice bonuses. Handily, Cudillero has almost everything you could possibly need during your stay, including supermarket facilities, several friendly bars and a number of good places to sample local seafood. It's also a very scenic spot to spend a few afternoons, particularly if you hang out close to the water's edge around the harbour. Looking to spend some time exploring a bigger city? The historic port of Gijón is just over half an hour away by road.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The washing machine and dryer weren’t working so they offered us the use of theirs. Lovely quiet site in September. Very clean, lovely pool and level pitches with good space around each one.

Liked: Pasamos unos dias muy bonitos. Nos pilló algo de lluvia pero aún así había donde aguarecerse.El camping tiene todos los servicios , es muy cómodo. Nos encantó.

Liked: Mit Hecke abgetrennte Bereiche (je 2 stellplätze), Strom und saubere Sanitäranlagen.

Disliked: Kaum Möglichkeit vom Platz zu fuss weg zu kommen. Zum Meer läuft man über eine Stunde eine steile, enge und kurvige Straße ohne Fußweg entlang. Ohne Auto kaum eine Chance dort weg zu kommen. Für einen Spaziergang mit dem Hund sehr suboptimal. Für einen Zwischenstop ok. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt würden wir dort nicht bleiben.

Local attractions

There's absolutely loads to do in the local area here, with brilliant beaches, some great hiking trails, adrenaline-fuelled watersports and everything in between. What follows is a list of just a few suggestions – for more information, including the low-down on seasonal activities and special events, make sure to head to the tourist office in the centre of Cudillero (under five minutes' drive). For sea kayaking, head to either the centre of Cudillero or, for a change of scene, wend your way down the coast towards Luarca (30 minutes), where there's a large sheltered harbour that's good for beginners. While you're in the area, you might like to pay a visit to the nearby El Parque de la Vida science museum (30 minutes), especially if you're travelling with kids. If you're into hiking, you can take your pick of the coastal walks on offer in the local area. Alternatively, drive inland instead, where you can explore three natural parks, all of which are within an hour and a half's radius: Somiedo Natural Park with its pristine lakes, Las Ubiñas-La Mesa with its ancient forests and mountains and, over the border in Castile and León, Babia y Luna Natural Park, home to one of the largest and most attractive reservoirs in northern Spain.
