In homage to Catalonia, we’d make known mucho material. The autonomous region of Cataluña is of course home to Spain’s biggest city, beautiful beautiful Barcelona… one of our favouritest cities to contentedly get lost in.
Wherever your campsite in Cataluña, the sun of the Costa Brava, the lengthy sandy stretches of the Costa Daurada, the wilds of the Spanish Pyrenees, Catalan medieval towns, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the Roman monuments of Tarragona are also very much on our ‘most recommended’ list… naturally after a day-long stop off at the Figureres museum founded by Salvador Dali (Teatre-Museu Dali is the second most visited museum in Spain after Museo del Prado; the moustachioed one is buried here too).
Rather like hobbits, Catalonian residents are fond of wild mushrooms (best found in the mountains; book a trip with a chef for the best haunts), but foodies on the trail while Cataluña camping can also gorge on Catalan cuisine like fish, shellfish and mountain meat and game. Wine? Cataluña has 11 wine-growing regions, including the Penedès, from whence cava comes: stock up here for Christmas morn.
