General

  • Five kilometres of Med beach just 400m away
  • Fifteen-minute drive to Barcelona
  • Pool, paddling pool, free wifi and snack bar

What a super setting has Camping Estrella De Mar in the municipality of Castelldefels. Here come the numbers… five kilometres of sandy Med beach and ten kilometres of promenade are just 400 metres from the site; it's five minutes from the kitesurfing, canoeing and sky surfing of the Canal Olímpic – and it's a paltry 15-minute drive/40-minute bus ride to splendid Barcelona. And here's a numero uno too, for the site is in a woodland setting, in one of the biggest pine forests in Castelldefels.

The friendly team here goes out of its way to help ensure guests have a smashingly relaxed Spanish holiday among tiptop levels of customer service and modern facilities: there's a paddling pool as well as a main outdoor pool, a snack bar for bites and drinks, free wifi and a play area. Guests can order bread for brekkie the next day.

Camping Estrella De Mar's well-kept amenities include toilets, rainfall-style showers, a launderette, disabled facilities and a washing-up area.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 23/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Facilities/activities including basketball court and football pitch are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Great customer service and a handy stop over place to see Barcelona and catch a ferry. Wouldn’t be our usual style of place, but it did exactly what we needed it to do. Would recommend as a stop over, but couldn’t say about anything else.

Nothing, we left after 1 night.

    Disliked:

After specifically requesting a quiet spot I was surprised to find the receptionist not aware of this at all. So I asked to look at the site first.
    Thank goodness I did!
The whole place looked like a shantytown thousands of people animals, and makeshift shacks where people were obviously living. Large screen tv’s and fridge freezers on display in the awnings. Some awnings had extensions on the awnings.
We had no other choice that to stay at least one night so we payed for one night.
Thank goodness we did. At 9.30 pm a very large family arrived and began to set up their camp. Their children throwing stones around other people’s cars with no respect for others. Shouting and screaming went on until at least 2am. Barbecues being lit at 11pm and some sort of flammable liquid being thrown onto it causing a massive fire risk to us and others.
When I went to the shower block I had to walk through crowds of people, and naked children pulling on their genitals it really was a third world scene!!!
Other campers were not friendly and looked very put out when asked to move their vehicles to allow us room to drive our caravan on.
This was a very expensive site at over £700 for 2 weeks for a touring caravan pitch, I expected it to be excellent quality for that price. I was very wrong.

Local attractions

As enthusiastically mentioned, Camping Estrella De Mar is in a super setting, whether you want to lounge around on a sandy white Mediterranean beach, get (slightly) active in a sporty or watersporty manner, or have cultured (and nightclubby) days and evenings out in busy Barcelona.

A short walk away are five kilometres of beach and ten kilometres of promenade for strolling, skating, jogging and sitting watching the sunset through one's cocktail flagon at one of the several beachside bars and restaurants. If you fancy an indoor/till ringing day, a shopping mall is a short drive from the site.

Within five minutes of the campsite is the Canal Olímpic, host to the canoe sprint events of the 1992 Olympics and now a venue for all sorts of sports of water and air: take to the canal for canoeing or kitesurfing, or skid above it Marty McFly-like for a spot of sky surfing among the clouds.
