What a super setting has Camping Estrella De Mar in the municipality of Castelldefels. Here come the numbers… five kilometres of sandy Med beach and ten kilometres of promenade are just 400 metres from the site; it's five minutes from the kitesurfing, canoeing and sky surfing of the Canal Olímpic – and it's a paltry 15-minute drive/40-minute bus ride to splendid Barcelona. And here's a numero uno too, for the site is in a woodland setting, in one of the biggest pine forests in Castelldefels. The friendly team here goes out of its way to help ensure guests have a smashingly relaxed Spanish holiday among tiptop levels of customer service and modern facilities: there's a paddling pool as well as a main outdoor pool, a café for bites and drinks, paid-for wifi and a play area. Guests can order bread for brekkie the next day. Camping Estrella De Mar's well-kept amenities include toilets, rainfall-style showers, a launderette, disabled facilities and a washing-up area. Friendly staff are also on-hand to help out.

Liked Bus route to Barcelona city centre is very easy to use.
The onsite restaurant/bar was adequate.

Disliked The main problem is the campsite is integrated with permanent residents and holiday makers. The residents let their children run around shouting and screaming until the early hours with no regard for any other people. This coupled with the noisey carriageway that runs past the site and the nearby airport, makes it a very uncomfortable stay.

The gravel pitch is impossible to stake your gazebo or tent to the ground.

No toilet rolls in the toilets.

Needs to be an enforced curfew for driving cars around the campsite.

Liked Niet duur, veel bomen, buiten de drukte van de stad (1 uur met OV naar centrum Barcelona)

Disliked Veel te druk, plekken overvol en daardoor te dicht op elkaar. Veel herrie tot diep in de nacht. Schoonmaak laat te wensen over. Douches worden erg slecht schoongemaakt. Ik zag de dame met alleen een fles chloor en een zwabber de vloer doen. Wat tegen de wanden zat, bleef gewoon zitten. Een hoge drukspuit zou wonderen kunnen verrichten.
Ieder uur komt een vliegtuig over na 07:00 tot 23:00. In de ochtend zelf iedere 10 minuten.
Deze camping slaan we de volgende keer over.

gardiennage incompétent pour recadrer l incivilité la nuit dans le camping jusqu'à 2h du matin

Disliked Le comportement de certains vacanciers qui montent sur les tables en dansant de façon inappropriée, et leur comportement la nuit où ils hurlent comme des animaux et nous réveille alors qu'ils sont alcoolisés. Il devrait il y avoir une surveillance de nuit pour éviter un tel comportement

Liked Site security was first class, booked a shady pitch only to find someone on it.
Had to do with full sun.
Site did sometime get rubbish over spilling from bins around site, but to be fair people did not use the correct rubbish area.

Disliked Nowhere to sit around pool, when your in your 70s it nice to sit whilst enjoying a cool dip.

Route directions

Driving: Take the C-31 to Castelldefels. Take the exit signposted Km 16.7 approximately 1km before the Canal Olimpic. Follow signposts to the site. By bus: Take L94 departing from Plaça Catalunya (Barcelona centre). It leaves you in front of the entrance. By train: From Sants-Estació or Passeig de Gràcia take RENFE to Castelldefels.

As enthusiastically mentioned, Camping Estrella De Mar is in a super setting, whether you want to lounge around on a sandy white Mediterranean beach, get (slightly) active in a sporty or watersporty manner, or have cultured (and nightclubby) days and evenings out in busy Barcelona. A short walk away are five kilometres of beach and ten kilometres of promenade for strolling, skating, jogging and sitting watching the sunset through one's cocktail flagon at one of the several beachside bars and restaurants. If you fancy an indoor/till ringing day, a shopping mall is a short drive from the site. Within five minutes of the site is the Canal Olímpic, host to the canoe sprint events of the 1992 Olympics and now a venue for all sorts of sports of water and air: take to the canal for canoeing or kitesurfing, or skid above it Marty McFly-like for a spot of sky surfing among the clouds.
