If you haven’t been to Germany yet, get packing. We first left our hearts in Berlin, and then again in the Black Forest, and then again in beautifully old-fashioned Bavaria…
Germany is one of the most visited – and one of the safest – countries in the world and we have an inkling this has a lot to do with its variety: within Germany’s large land you’ll be able to sample the spas and resorts of the Baltic Sea and North Sea, hike through 14 national parks and 98 nature parks, ski and snowboard in the Bavarian Alps, and carve a space for the crafts, nature, rivers and mountains of the Black Forest. Carve space too for the best of German eats and drinks in bratwurst, beer, Roggenmischbrot and the dizzingly tempting array of German cakes.
Bamboozled by all the choices – and not just by picking a German beer or German cake? Our campsites in Germany list what to see and do nearby; if you’re new to camping in Germany, ask at the campsite for tips on the local area (we have an inkling that Germany’s friendliness is what makes it a tiptop tourist destination too.)
