A country where all the cities are coastal – bonzer. And oh how much more there is to absolutely excellent Australia than those too. This vast and fab land is of course home to an enormous outback, the massive monolith Uluru, kangas, wallabies and koalas… and its very own chirpy-sounding slang that makes we lingo-loving lot most enamoured of this country indeed. Strewth.
Were we to pack our ports and go camping in Australia, we'd first of all book as much time as poss. Then we'd maybe fly in to Sydney, for weeks in Australian campsites around New South Wales, the Blue Mountains and the beaches, then up via Byron Bay to Queensland and the Gold Coast… Then Cairns, and Darwin, and then a zigzag down through wild red and rural parts all the way to Victoria/Melbourne and South Australia/Adelaide – and then of course a jaunt in the other direction towards Western Australia and Perth. (And it would be devilish to forget the cracking little island of Tasmania too.)
And oh the sights we'd see. The Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, the cragged critters viewable from a wetlands cruise around the Northern Territory's Yellow Water Lagoon in the Kakadu National Park, the Margaret River vineyards, the waters of Alice Springs and – but of course – the shimmering colours of the Great Barrier Reef… it's fair to say we'd be fairly stoked.
