  • Peaceful dog-friendly rural Cornwall site two miles from the coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Penzance; 20 minutes from St Michael’s Mount
  • Golf course, pubs, restaurants and food shop within walking distance
From spotting razorbills on Land’s End or island-hopping around the Isles of Scilly to browsing seaside art galleries and sorting through market towns, base yourself at South Bosvargus Farm for an action-packed Cornwall itinerary. Two miles from the coast with views over the Cornish countryside, this dog-friendly site has splendid sea views… and it’s also a convenient 35 minutes’ walk away from the coastal footpath for capers down to Sennen Cove (an hour and 50 minutes’ walk) or the Land’s End Landmark Attraction (just over two hours). Away from the main road and on the spacious grassy pitches, watch the planes whizz in and out of the nearby Land’s End airport (a five-minute drive for a skybus to the Isles of Scilly). Spot the Chapel Carn Brea (10 minutes for a hilly hike past Dartmoor ponies to a hilltop beacon) and the slopes of the Bartinney Downs (10 minutes for the nature reserve) in the distance. If you’re after some nibbles for the site, the market town of St Just is under five minutes’ drive away (an easy 25-minute walk). As well as a golf course, it has a food shop handy for filling your pockets with snacks, plus a nice selection of cafés, pubs and restaurants (including a fish and chips shop or a Chinese takeaway) so that you may pick and choose where to eat out each night.

Local attractions

A pretty chilled-out town on the coast, Penzance (10 minutes’ drive) has art galleries, museums and the Polgoon Vineyard so that you can switch between critiquing art pieces and local wines. The Scillonian ferry calls at the town’s harbour too, so board the passenger ferry and take a trip to the wildlife haven on the Isles of Scilly (a 10-minute drive and a two-hour and 45 minutes’ ferry) for water-based activities, hikes and tropical gardens over the archipelago. In the opposite direction, there’s another island community at St Michael's Mount (20 minutes). The castle and garden are closed off by the tide at times, so time your trip right. Marazion (20 minutes) has splendid beaches and galleries too. Or perhaps head to St Ives (25 minutes) to mount a boat to Seal Island or simply chill out in a beach café. And how about wildlife watching on Land’s End (15 minutes)? Razorbills, kittiwakes and other birds often flutter by the granite cliff edge, so bring your binoculars along.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great views, simple and not busy, plus a really good price. Shower was nice and washing up area was good. Compost loo was fine (if it really is then composted? Not convinced). Lots of good, flat pitch choices, with good views. Fantastic location in terms of proximity to beaches and St Just. We had a really great holiday staying there.

Disliked: Very hands off approach of owner - not very pro-active, but responded to any issues and was friendly. Would have been good to have more prompt toilet emptying. Some rules, a footpath map, contact details and info at washing up point would have been handy. Also, a quick greet and point of contact with owner would have gone down well. Being able to freeze ice packs would have been great, although tricky to make happen given the site. Feels like a side hustle given minimal time from the owner, which for most of the time is fine, but some easy improvements could be made.

From the manager: Sorry you disliked some aspects of our site but until now our campers have enjoyed the fact that we have kept to only 10 pitches and you choose where you want to set up, its a very relaxed stay with no set pitches and definitely no overcrowding, we also don't feel the need to check folk in and out as the booking was made online through a reputable site {no side hustle} and we are available via mobile phone for any queries. The composting toilet has been very well received and is definitely recycled, unsure what you imagine we do with it! {Unfortunately one morning I was late around as I broke my toe and was literally off my feet for a few hours.} There are no actual public footpaths from our farm so we don't supply maps. There is my contact number on the signpost to the campsite and being a non electric site we don't offer any cooling/freezing facilities. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and had a good holiday and would recommend our site to friends. .

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The simplicity and that there were only two other pairs of campers there, felt like we had the place to ourselves… which was greatly appreciated. Basically flat field, simple compost loo. Closeness to Sennen, Cape Cornwall, Morvah etc. The view was ok too.

Disliked: The road noise from the StJust to Penzance road. Would have liked recycling and compost/ food waste facilities.
