General
- On the shores of Lake Ledro
- On-site restaurant pizzeria, bike and canoe hire
- 200 metres from a supermarket, bank, pharmacy and many other services
Oh, those views… and that lake. Campeggio Al Lago in the Trentino province is on the shores of Lake Ledro, a clean, clear and blue water body over 600 metres above sea level. Natch you'll need to explore it fully, so how fortuitous that the campsite has canoe hire.
The lake also has four beaches, and is surrounded by scenic strolling and cycling trails: how fortuitous too that Campeggio Al Lago also hires out bikes, mountain bikes and electric bikes… Heaps more lake-based days are at Lake Garda if you're up for a drive instead, about 15 minutes away by car.
Campeggio Al Lago is a medium-sized site, run by Bernie and Mario who are carrying on the Italian camping hospitality started up by their folks in the 60s. It has Italian and local dishes as well as pizza available at its restaurant; a bar open early for breakfast, and barbecue areas for those going it alone. A supermarket is within 200 metres.
The site's modern facilities include free wifi throughout; a spacious amenities block with free hot showers; a washing-up area and a laundry room.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

Local attractions
This high-up part of Trentino is heavenly land for hikers and mountain bikers as well as watersporters who can launch canoes and rowing and sailing boats from the nearby beach. After something more extreme? Ask the Campeggio Al Lago team about the guides they can sort for heady days canyoning or an above-lake paraglide.
Something much less extreme, ta very much? Splendid cultural sights and sites are within well easy reach, like the Pile-dwelling Museum of Lake Ledro, a mega important prehistoric site four kilometres away. Within ten minutes' walk is the Garibaldi and First World War Museum, set where Italians and Austrians fought to defend the territory in World War I.
A bit further afield and by car, get along to MUSE, one of Italy's top science museums, and MART, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto.
Events and entertainment are held in Campeggio Al Lago's valley every week and Lake Garda is 15 minutes' drive away.
