position next to the sea and it is a easy stroll into town for eating and drinking but the road back at night is not illuminated and very dark.

    Disliked:

the fact the site is being turned over to mobile homes and the residents leave the facilities dirty.

Pleasant site within easy reach of Rosslare ferry. Beach very close. 15/08/2016

Within 45 minutes of ferry port which was handy as we arrived at Rosslare at 18.45 hours. We stayed at Duncannon twice during our trip to Ireland, 3 days when we arrived and 2 days before leaving. Our pitch was very close to reception and kitchen and toilets. The wifi was at reception and worked very well...and it was free. Duncannon beach was over the road so very easy to get to and it was a very pleasant sandy beach, very popular with wind surfers. We were given a very friendly welcome and the staff were always helpful. There was a games room as well with table tennis which was very popular with the youngsters. On the whole the campsite was ok and good value for money.

    Disliked:

On our second stay we had to wait for an hour to get onto our pitch as the previous campers were not in any hurry to move. We were offered use of kitchen while we waited but unable to get to our food etc because of our van being packed. It was explained to us the next day that the woman had been asked to pack up several times as the pitch was reserved for us but she would not comply with the 11.00 hours check out time. This was not explained very well on our arrival and we felt that we had not been expected despite having booked weeks in advance and paying up front.
The showers were coin operated and it was a euro for 6 mins, the main issue was that the coin slots were in the entrance to the unisex shower rooms so the clock was ticking whilst you were rushing into the room to get undressed and if the euro ran out you would not be able to put another one in without going back outside. It would be better if the coin machines were in the shower cubicles so they could be accessed when undressed.
The bins for the paper towels were very small so they were overflowing by the end of the day and the toilet rolls appeared jammed quite often too making it hard to get to the roll.

Position of campsite along great beach, lovely village with fish and chips and pub. Size of pitch offered was good and staff were cheerie and pleasant. For a small site there were a few things for children to play on in games room.

    Disliked:

Cleanliness of showers and washing up area. No staff appeared to monitor games room and it was a free for all in the evening with children running in and out screaming. Washing up area , where sinks and fridge are is locked at night. No warning signs so if leaving early morning anything stored here risks being left behind.

Local attractions

The tagline for the Hook Peninsula is that you could find a beach a day for a fortnight, whether you want foamy surfing waves, calm swimming waters, deep sea angling, birdwatching or sheltered coves to hide away in. The nearest beach, Duncannon, is a sandy stretch a mile long and has car parking on the water's edge.

Sixteenth century Duncannon Fort is one of the most visited attractions in the area and has an arts gallery, maritime museum and several arts and craft shops. Also highly popular is Hook Lighthouse, now a visitor centre with gift shop, guided tours, a café, art exhibitions and maritime displays.

If you've never kitesurfed before, lessons and kit hire are available locally at Hooked Kitesurfing. Other adrenalised options are at Shielbaggan Outdoor Adventure Centre which has orienteering, sea kayaking, coasteering, high ropes, surfing, archery, rock climbing and more.

Also in the area, play crazy golf near Fethard-on-Sea at Abbey Par 3, or shiver among the spooks and laser tag of 'the most haunted house in Ireland' Loftus Hall.
