General

  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland
  • Fishing lakes, summer festivals and outdoor inflatable waterpark
  • Miniature train, adventure golf, bars and restaurants

What a whopper of a site. Award-winning activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire is set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes, with so much to do around its grounds you'll likely want to stay put here for your entire hol. (And if you do desire to speed off somewhere? Silverstone is half an hour's drive away.)

The site's setting on an aquadrome surrounded by water has it full of fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths, where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and up to date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the site team if you want to try your fishy luck.

Away from the water, the many other on-site options include an outdoor inflatable waterpark, miniature train and adventure golf to keep all entertained, and a multisports area and climbing wall for a heady mixture of family adventuring. Summer sees the park buzzing with festivals, displays and special events around the grounds and in the bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden) as evening falls.

And speaking of the essentials... as well as the beer garden, bars and restaurants, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, an internet café, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's too.

The toilets were very dated, the shower block semt dirty and only a shower curtain to separate you from others which could easily be opened, also there was nowhere to put your belongings whist in the shower apart from one tiny hook to put everything on. Stayed here for 2 nights and seen 3/4 police cars turn up as well as 2 ambulances.
We booked separately to our friends buy we all had booked electric hook up however when they turned up there wasn't enough pitches so they went without electric.

    Disliked:

Lots of rubbish around leisure area and outside benches. This was affecting the surrounding waters which could be harmful to wildlife. Childrens main play area is very poor. 2 swings (1 broken) no play area for the older children. For such a huge park i expected a larger play area.

    Disliked:

Finding our pitch. We were not told beforehand it was a free for all. After searching in vain for a pitch designated to us, we gave up and pitched up in one of the very few places left.

Spent the first half hour picking up multiple piles of dog dirt from the pitch.

Some non-electric pitches in the main area looked nice (see above). Unfortunately the area designated for electrical pitches (our requirement) resembled The Bronx.

    Not much

    Disliked:

Run down and dirty site, rubbish in all the lakes. Facilities worn out. Lack of signs, couldn’t find the RV point which turned out to be an unmarked hole in the ground in a field. Unhelpful staff, maintenance staff complained about the site and employers in front of customers.
Loud music played all day long.
Rules for no campfires were not enforced so kids felt they were missing out when we said it wasn’t allowed.
    Wouldn’t recommend at all.
