Billing Aquadrome: Camping Field

General

  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland
  • Fishing lakes, summer festivals and outdoor inflatable waterpark
  • Miniature train, adventure golf, bars and restaurants

What a whopper of a site. Award-winning activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire is set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes, with so much to do around its grounds you'll likely want to stay put here for your entire hol. (And if you do desire to speed off somewhere? Silverstone is half an hour's drive away.)

The site's setting on an aquadrome surrounded by water has it full of fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths, where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and up to date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the site team if you want to try your fishy luck.

Away from the water, the many other on-site options include an outdoor inflatable waterpark, miniature train and adventure golf to keep all entertained, and a multisports area and climbing wall for a heady mixture of family adventuring. Summer sees the park buzzing with festivals, displays and special events around the grounds and in the bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden) as evening falls.

And speaking of the essentials... as well as the beer garden, bars and restaurants, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, an internet café, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's too.

    Nothing

    Disliked:

    Everything
Poor service, disgusting toilets and showers, all the activities were closed including the swimming pool. An air raid style siren sounded one morning, the staff failed to inform us this was a practice as we may have to evacuate due to flooding. If we were to hear this siren again we should evacuate immediately, a resident told us this not a member of staff.

Very quiet which was brilliant for our young children as they do struggle sleeping sometimes with a lot of noise. Checking in was stress free, setting up our caravan was stress free and they even upgraded our pitch to put us closer to the toilets/showers.

Overall a brilliant stay for this time of year.

    Disliked:

Only let down was the ground conditions but that isn’t really their fault it’s just the time of year.

Great Location, good facilities. Friendly and helpful reception staff.

    Disliked:

Muddy pitches this time of year, could do with some hardstanding ones.
Toilet/ shower block 'blues & pinks' broken toilet roll dispensers, toilet tissue all over floor.
Lots of travellers staying on site, with a very strong smell of cannabis made us feel on edge.
The Venue drinks were very expensive, more than anywhere else.
Price of stay more has gone up considerably. Frim £28 to £40 a night.
Unable to book just one night during the spring & summer months.

Uncleanliness of site/could never find a bin around touring pitches!!
    Price of additional activities
Price of pitch considering no additional activities included in the price of stay.
You pay same price for swim/golf/rides as people who have not paid to stay on the site. Public can just come in and use site for the day for a very small fee.
