General
- Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland
- Fishing lakes and summer festivals
- Miniature train, adventure golf, bars and restaurants
What a whopper of a site. Award-winning activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire is set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes, with so much to do around its grounds you'll likely want to stay put here for your entire hol. (And if you do desire to speed off somewhere? Silverstone is half an hour's drive away.)
The site's setting on an aquadrome surrounded by water has it full of fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths, where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and up to date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the site team if you want to try your fishy luck.
Away from the water, the many other on-site options include a miniature train and adventure golf to keep all entertained. Summer sees the park buzzing with festivals, displays and special events around the grounds and in the bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden) as evening falls. The bar and beer garden is adults-only and available from 10pm.
And speaking of the essentials... as well as the beer garden, bars and restaurants, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, an internet café, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's too.
