General site overview

  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland in Northamptonshire
  • Half an hour's drive from Silverstone; Northampton 15 minutes
  • Fishing lakes, bars and restaurants
Activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome is just a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire and set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes. With so much to do around its grounds, it's likely that you'll want to stay put here for your entire trip… and if you do desire to speed off somewhere, Silverstone is only half an hour's drive away. The site has fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and an up-to-date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the team if you want to try your luck. Away from the water, the many other facilities include bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden). Just take note that the bar, beer garden and restaurant are all adults-only from 10pm. There is also a seasonal swimming pool on site. And speaking of the essentials, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's.

What customers say

Great for families with tons to do, especially for kids! Plenty of space, clean loos (some could do with a spruce-up). Staff are ace, but booking activities can be tricky. Watch out for noise and fast drivers.

Shelduck (area 5) powered grass caravan site

Liked The only plus is people seemed to be enjoying themselves, which was lovely to see.

Disliked Toilet/showers poorly designed. Instead of being separate they are combined (a toilet + shower to a cubicle) meaning people queuing - there were several small children desperately needing the toilet when people were taking showers. Water from the showers pooled in the toilet area - yuk - you ended up standing in centimetres of water trying to keep clothing from touching it. No hooks.
Dishwashing area not kept clean (by campers).
Scarce water points.

Liked Slip and slide was great should do it more.

Disliked Indoor pool was to cold and need to have a separate toilet block for camping as we had to queue and wait for people to shower.

Lakeside camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Kingfisher cabin (number 20) location with lake view and wildlife was fantastic and the accommodation generally was really good in peaceful, natural setting and represented good value for money.
Welcome pack was a nice touch; also the game for using when holidaying.
Loved the pool for family swimming but it was a shame the jacuzzi was out of order.
Food and drink options were reasonably priced and pretty good.
Most staff were pleasant and helpful but we asked a young waitress if we could have a parasol outside the arcade area as it was a particularly hot day; even though we had seen bases and parasols parked up at the end of the decking area she said there were none.

Disliked Scissors didn't work.
No hooks on bathroom door or other elsewhere to hang clothes or towels
No hooks to hold back the front doors when open, looking out onto the lake
Very weak fishing peg outside the cabin where child liked to feed the ducks but didn't feel safe to stand on!
Poor train service around the lake; was told 10.30am start time then every ten minutes but there was no arrival by 11.10am so had to abandon.
The Venue tables/spillages were not cleaned sufficiently promptly.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We really appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

It's wonderful to hear that you loved our Lakeside Cabins and the beautiful lakeside views. It's in our nature to offer our guests the opportunity to relax, unwind, and reconnect with the outdoors. Our Lakeside Cabins are a real step up from camping, offering the perfect balance of nature and comfort. While we like to keep them true to the camping experience, they're packed with everything you need, including a double bed, sofa, a small kitchenette with a microwave and toaster, and even a private toilet, sink, and shower. They really do provide a unique way to enjoy the outdoors without giving up those home comforts.

With swimming and many of our fantastic on-park activities included, plus the stunning lakeside setting and wildlife, where else can you enjoy all of this in one place!

Regarding the parasols, we completely understand your comments, especially during the recent hot weather. While we don't currently have parasols available for guests, this is something we are looking to invest in as we recognise the need for more shaded outdoor seating areas.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Billing Aquadrome again soon for another relaxing lakeside escape.

Field 1 powered grass tent site (family)

Liked Fantastic place for some fun activities with the kids and lovely camping pitches for tbe family.

Disliked The toilet blocks for the family camping where always quite grim amd not very clean. Also the ice cream van was never open, and the Smashed town burger place was a joke. We waited half an hour for 4 burgers, staff had no clue what had been ordered and then all the toppings were missing in the burgers plus a mix of different chips. They were literally scrapping from the bottom of the barrel it was ridiculous. They wouldnt give us our 10% of as apparently it wasn't on the til and the menu was apparently last years that they had on display. Staff didnt seem to care or offer any compensation for this. It was a real let down and disappointment as the rest of the stay was great for the kids.

Liked Great activities for the kids
Park itself is big and spacious
Great camping pitch and areas for the kids to play
Pub just outside was great and cheap

Disliked Activities were almost fully booked when we arrived and looked to see what was on so swimming was limited - I think they should open up slots each day to allow for last minute bookings as some people don’t always book 2 weeks in advance.

Toilets were blocked most days and with these being in the same room as the shower the floor was always soaked. Need bigger washing up facilities

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed our spacious park, the camping pitches, and the range of activities for the children. It's also great to know you found plenty of space for the children to play.

At Billing Aquadrome, it's in our nature to create memorable family holidays, and we're delighted that so many aspects of your stay helped you do just that.

We're sorry to hear that some of the activities were fully booked during your stay. We recommend booking activities up to two weeks before arrival to avoid disappointment during our busiest periods. However, if availability allows, we also open up additional activity sessions two days before guests arrive, giving everyone another opportunity to book. Thank you for your suggestion regarding releasing more spaces, and we'll be sure to pass your feedback on to our Activities Team.

Thank you also for highlighting the toilet and shower facilities, along with your suggestion for larger washing-up areas. Our park teams work incredibly hard throughout the day to ensure our toilets and facilities are kept clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy. We also encourage all of our guests to help us by leaving the facilities as they would wish to find them, so everyone can have the best possible experience.

We've already invested millions of pounds into Billing Aquadrome, and we're not finished yet. We continue to invest in improving our facilities and the overall guest experience, and feedback such as yours helps us identify where we can do even better.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Firstly, I'm so pleased to hear that you found our team to be friendly and helpful. I'll be sure to pass your kind comments on to them, as they'll really appreciate your recognition.

I'm very sorry to hear that your pitch was uneven and that it was occupied when you arrived. I also apologise that the cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities did not meet the high standards we expect. Our park teams work tirelessly throughout the day and late into the evening, following strict cleaning schedules, but it's clear we fell short during your stay, and for that I sincerely apologise.

I was also very concerned to read your comments regarding dogs being off their leads and the reported dog attack. Nothing of this nature was brought to our attention during your stay. Had our park team been made aware, they would have challenged this behaviour immediately, as it is completely unacceptable. We ask all dog owners to keep their dogs on leads at all times while on park to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our holiday guests.

The dusty pathways are something we continue to monitor, particularly during periods of warm, dry weather, and I appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Regarding the food and drink prices, we always work hard to keep our prices as competitive as possible while continuing to invest back into the park and improve the facilities for our guests.

Thank you again for your honest feedback. It's in our nature to listen, learn, and continue improving so that every guest has the best possible holiday with us.

Shelduck (area 3) fully-serviced gravel and concrete caravan site

Liked Plenty for kids to do

Disliked Caravan gravel pitches are way too close together, very loud neighbours of the travelling descend. Seems to be a popular place for them as we’re in a group. Dirty, smelly toilets and showers - very little staff presence. Lots of litter, bins hardly emptied. Without wanting to sound snobby it’s the type of site that attracts a certain crowd, we wouldn’t recommend or be visiting again

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We're pleased to hear that there was plenty for the children to enjoy during your stay.

I am sorry that other aspects of your visit did not meet your expectations. We welcome guests from all backgrounds and want everyone to enjoy their holiday while treating fellow guests with courtesy and respect.

I was also disappointed to read your comments regarding the cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities, litter, and the bins. This is not the standard we aim to provide. Our park teams work hard throughout the day and into the evening to maintain the facilities, empty bins, and keep the park looking its best. Unfortunately, on busy days, areas can quickly become untidy between scheduled checks, but we would always encourage guests to let a member of the team know if something needs immediate attention so it can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

We continue to invest in the park and listen carefully to our guests' feedback to help shape future improvements. It's in our nature to listen, learn, and do better.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave your comments.

Shelduck (area 5) powered grass caravan site

Liked Huge pitch sizes and spaces between, especially on Shelduck 5 which was quieter and away from the main facilities.
Lovely walks around the site with lakes and rivers and wildlife.

Disliked Not having anywhere secure to leave valuables at the swimming pool as all the locks on the lockers were broken. Shelves were provided to leave bags poolside, but you couldn't really relax and enjoy your swim as you were constantly wondering if someone would walk off with car keys or phone!

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

It’s lovely to hear that you enjoyed the generous pitch sizes, the peaceful setting of Shelduck 5, and the beautiful walks around the lakes and rivers. We are very lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful wildlife, and it’s great to hear you enjoyed the natural surroundings of the park.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with the swimming pool lockers. We completely understand how important it is to feel confident that your belongings are safe while you relax and enjoy your swim.

It’s in our nature to listen to our guests, and we are actually already ahead of you on this one — new lockers have been ordered, and we are currently waiting for them to arrive. We appreciate your patience while we get these improvements in place.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re always looking at ways to improve our facilities and make sure our guests have the best possible experience during their stay.

Shelduck (area 5) powered grass caravan site

Liked Big site, quiet at night though we stayed Monday to Thursday so dont know what its like on weekends.
Lots of activities onsite and bars, swimming pool. A lot for kids to do!
We saw swans and geese which was lovely!

Disliked Sadly we weren't impressed by the facilities. We were in the touring field and the toilets near us (in brown buildings, wet room layout) were often left in a state where we couldn't use them. At night the toilets were blocked and overflowing and water was all over the floor, either from the shower or the toilet.
The bigger toilet block was better, though in the ladies many stalls didn't have toilet paper and most of the soap dispensers were empty. My Dad said the men's were very dirty and left in a poor state.
I couldn't find anywhere to recycle, there just seemed to be general waste bins in the touring field. I'm not sure whether there was recycling bins anywhere else on site so I took mine home.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

It’s lovely to hear that you enjoyed the size of the park, the peaceful atmosphere during your stay, and the variety of activities and facilities available for families. We’re also pleased you enjoyed seeing the swans and geese around the park one of the special things about being located in such a beautiful setting.

I am sorry to hear your concerns regarding the toilet and shower facilities in the touring area. Our toilet and shower blocks are manned by our park teams throughout the day and into the late evening, so it is very frustrating for us to hear that you found them in a condition that was not acceptable.

This is not the experience we want our guests to have. Our teams work hard to maintain these facilities and follow strict cleaning processes and checks. Unfortunately, we can sometimes find that facilities are left in a poor state by some guests, which can quickly impact the experience for others. We completely understand how disappointing this must be when you are looking to use the facilities during your stay.

We have also noted your comments regarding toilet paper, soap dispensers, and recycling facilities, and we have shared this feedback with the park team for review.

We would always encourage guests to let a member of the team know while on park if something is not as it should be, as this gives us the opportunity to investigate and put things right as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your feedback. It’s in our nature to listen to our guests and continue making improvements to ensure everyone can enjoy their stay with us.

Shelduck (area 5) powered grass caravan site

Liked Improved a lot since the last owners
Looks like they've invested a bit
The kids liked the bike track although there was a bit of bullying as no supervision

Disliked Very expensive even with the so called wristband discount

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

It’s great to hear that you have noticed the improvements at the park since the previous owners and that your children enjoyed the bike track.

We have invested millions back into the park and there is still plenty more we want to achieve. We know our holiday guests want more from their stays, and we continue to listen to feedback and make improvements wherever we can.

Our pump track was designed with Silverstone race track in mind and has become a really popular facility with our guests. We always advise that children are supervised by an adult while using our facilities to help ensure everyone can enjoy them safely.

We also appreciate your comments regarding pricing. We work hard to keep our prices as competitive as possible while continuing to invest in the park, improve facilities, and provide great experiences for our guests. We believe we offer fantastic value with the wide range of activities and facilities available, and we are always looking at ways to enhance what we provide.

Thank you again for sharing your feedback. It’s in our nature to listen, improve, and create memorable holidays for our guests.
