Aug 2026

Liked Not much ..... Great views and Sunset

Disliked Not enough Toilets and showers for the amount of people 3 fields with approx 30 pitches per field... Waterpressure woeful my shower literally trickled down the riser rail and that was it. Apparently a bore hole so not their fault!!! Noisy neighbours despite the 11pm curfew (took no notice of it) we did bring this to the attention of the staff which didn't make any difference as they started to play games at 11.10pm the next night.... Disgusting that I had to clean up dog poo off my new trainers because some lazy irresponsible dog owner didn't pick it up £25 for a non electric pitch not level either and quite frankly no showers is too much for a field. Should be advertised as not having showers as they were not really of any use. Hate putting negative reviews but feel others need to know. Definitely would not stay here again Not sure how it has the rating it does?

From the manager: Thanks so much for your detailed review — we always admire dedication, and your review was almost as long as the queue for our shower block after it was vandalised last weekend. We completely understand the heartbreak of discovering your brand‑new trainers were redecorated by dog excrement. We have numerous signs across site reminding guests and feel this was simply out of our control. After dealing with someone vandalising our shower trailer, we too know the pain of unexpected… additions and it would appear neither of us made it out of the weekend unscathed. As for the noise — yes, we did have a few campers who thought 11pm was the perfect time to debut their new social‑club‑in‑a‑field routine. Once informed, we spoke with them directly, and the following evening we did a full site walk at midnight to make sure the only thing making noise was the wind. (It was very peaceful at 12pm — we can confirm.) Just a gentle reminder: we’re a pop‑up campsite — 60 days a year, in a field, powered by a natural bore hole, sunshine, and a lot of care and dedication. We’re not pretending to be the Ritz, the Savoy, or even the Wirksworth Premier Inn. Did you know our toilet and shower block is temporary and after the 60 days has to be removed? However, this time next year we will have a toilet and shower block available to campers with more facilities due to our expansion. Something you won’t get to experience with you never wanting to return again. And at £25 a night, we think we’re fairly reasonable. That’s roughly the price of: • A cinema ticket and a tub of popcorn • Two cocktails in most UK bars • A car wash Or • A round of golf if you’re lucky We’re genuinely sorry the peaceful rural stay you hoped for didn’t match your expectations but at least the sunsets behaved! Wishing you many future camping trips where the only thing that gets vandalised is a marshmallow.

Couples avoid. families would love this site

Jun 2026

Liked Great facilities Good site had a nice walk into Clapham which was a mixture or field and road to get there.

Disliked Toilets were average in cleanliness although it was busy so hard to keep on top of as there were a lot of people staying. Sadly there was a group of kids and Parent who had no care for others vans and property as they continually played with every form of radio controlled vehicle some of which were fine but draw the line at a plane which kept hitting people and their vehicles. The Parent had no care so sadly neither did the kids they also ran a remote controlled buggy capable of very fast speeds knocking other children over and skidding stones which also hit cars and vans. Im no kill joy but I would of thought the management would of said something as my wife commented and was told to she was being grumpy after asking politely if they could move to the field provided and away from our vehicles which they hit on 2 separate occasions. Sadly this put a downer on our stay and probably wouldnt come back for this reason alone. The site was great but try mid week and out of school holidays would be my advice if your a couple but for kids can't fault it

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you were impressed with our facilities and enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. We are sorry to hear that you felt other guests' children disrupted your stay. While we ask all guests to be respectful of those around them, we are unfortunately unable to supervise or control how parents choose to monitor their children during their visit. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Orcaber Farm in the future. Kind Regards Orcaber Team

Fantastic site very clean and well kept excellently site

Mar 2026

Liked Spacious level pitches Very Clean and tidy. Emma and team keep it all extremely well presented with spotlessly clean. One of the best sites we've stayed on over the last 5 years, very friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers 6 showers in both men's and ladies separate from toilets with a family shower/toilet room too all kept immaculately. Pot washing facilities. There is a walk from the back of the site that takes you to Hay on Wye where there are lots of bookshops cafes and eateries

Toilets and showers were clean. Bus stop…

Sept 2025

Liked Toilets and showers were clean. Bus stop outside site. Was OK but more of a seasonal site. Not for us sadly

Disliked 2 showers for male and 2 for female seems low considering the total pitch numbers. There was an extra shower available that said it was open but it was locked. This is a seasonal site really as most on here were.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Richard. We welcome seasonal and short-stay guests year-round. I am not sure how this made a difference to your stay? We are well within ratio for toilets and showers, i clean the toilet block very regularly and occasionally see a couple of people wait for a shower between 8-10am in the 6-week summer school holiday, but never outside of these times. This is why our extra shower room is only open from June to September, as indicated by the sign. You don't mention you had to wait for a shower so again just another unnecessary comment. I appreciate that not all sites are for everyone, but this score and review seem very unfair and not reflective of the high standards of site maintenance and cleanliness and customer service we adhere to. Best Wishes :)

Stayed on a hardstanding pitch which…

Sept 2025

Liked Stayed on a hardstanding pitch which sadly was furthest away from the toilet and shower block. There was another gravel pitch right near but this was where the warden stayed. Booked 2 nights a few weeks in advance but when we arrived our names were supposed to be on the board and pitch number but the warden had not been updated. Toilets and showers were clean. I understand electric should be charged for as some I'm sure will use lots but we were in a campervan using very little and were charged £10 for the 2 nights which I know is excessive, perhaps metered electric would be easier mind you our pitch had a splitter on it feeding pitch 1 too so probably wouldn't work we stayed last month on metered in Anglesey for 4 nights and it cost 75p total so sadly feel its unfairly charged. Didn't even stay the 2nd night due to the weather coming in.....

Disliked Extra electric charge is too much, pitch furthest from Toilets should be for the warden not guests

Excellent location, clean site, showers and toilets were immaculate

May 2025

Liked Stayed here for 3 nights, excellent location with a great walk at the back of the site into Kirby Stephen along the old railway track and back along the river approx 3 miles round trip. Highly recommend Sandys the ice cream was gorgeous and very good value the owner was lovely too. Very clean showers and toilets site was immediately kept. The Engine room with bar and street food restaurant where they have a different type of food each night. There was a pizza eve a burger and flat bread eve whilst we were there very reasonable in price too. Loved this site its been one of our favourites over the past 4 years

Disliked Not really an issue for us as we asked to move from pitch 41 which is opposite the engine room on the far side of the park near to the road there were tall trees behind the site with a lot of crows nesting and were quite loud. We were moved with no issue at all and only mention it to make anyone that is a light sleeper aware as this may cause an issue for you but the staff were brilliant

Liked Owners were very nice Lovely couple. Site was well located with Bus stop outside. Enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to book here again if in the area. Electric hook up cost extra however we were in a campervan and only spent £1.15 for 3 nights so good value for money as they refund anything left on the meter at the end of your stay

Nice clean site with a Bar…

Jun 2024

Liked Nice clean site with a Bar & Restaurant - the food is good value and was of good standard. There was also Crazy golf putting, Toilets and showers were quite clean however my wife had to unclog 1 of the sinks as it was full of hair and almost over flowed. The showers were good with hot water (almost too hot) The site is vast with it being mainly static homes, think I counted 300+ The grounds were very well kept and we were looking forward to this site out of all of the sites we'd booked. Reception did try to accomodate our request for another pitch but were too full to put us on a differerent pitch so we had to stay put.

Disliked If your in a campervan your pitch is basically an unlevel car park with electric hook up. Toilets were locked all day and night with a key code which is a pain as they weren't well lit up at night. The ladies showers were not cleaned in the 2 days we were there. It's supposed to be Quiet site after 10.30 however next doors van and the seasonal caravan behind them decided it would be ok to party loudly until 12 a.m. Didn't see the warden once in the evening/night to complain but decided wasn't worth it as we were leaving the following morning. There are a lot of rules which is fine as long as everyone abides by them and you'd of thought seasonal guests would know. This site is totally geared up for static seasonal guests and I personally think as a campervan touring this site is expensive for the poor pitch we got, sadly I doubt we will return.
