General

  • Manicured pitches surrounded by greenery
  • Spotless amenities including power showers and wetsuit/drying area
  • Playground and dog-walking area

Small but perfectly formed, the Laurels Holiday Park offers manicured grassy pitches surrounded by pretty greenery and flowers to give guests a bit of extra privacy.

The essential facilities are impeccably maintained: there’s free hot water in the washing up area and power showers, plus hairdryers, a laundry with tumble dryer and free ironing kit, and a shared fridge and freezer. There’s even a special area for washing and drying wetsuits, which gets regular use given the excellent surfing and watersports nearby...

The Laurels has a small on-site shop stocking the essentials, ice creams, sweets and drinks. Sausages, bacon and eggs from the local butcher are stocked in peak season, and fresh bread, pastries and scones are delivered daily from a local bakery.

Pint-sized visitors can mess about on the boat in the playground, which is well-equipped with climbing frames, swings and a large trampoline, plus plenty of space for ball games. The site is also Fido-friendly, with a dedicated area for dogwalking.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Bookings can only be accepted from families or couples where the named hirer is over 21 and is part of the holiday party.

Campfires must be in a self-contained firepit raised off the ground and a safe distance away from tents, caravans and awnings etc

Road is a bit busy and loud in the morning but it's not too bad. I was pitched near the front of the site so probably was in the worst place for traffic sounds from the road.

This is a well kept site with spotlessly clean facilities and a friendly atmosphere. The pitches are spacious and attractively marked out with planting. There is a small shop for essentials and you can order baked goods from a well known local bakery. There's a safe children's play area and a dog walk. In fact, there is everything you need here for a comfortable stay, including a bus stop right outside the site with regular buses to Wadebridge or Padstow. It is on a main road but it is screened by mature hedges and trees and the convenience and excellent facilities outweigh a bit of traffic noise. We'll be back!

We find this a confusingly unfair review! You stayed for just over 12 hours on site, we greeted you and gave all the necessary information when you arrived late which you have praised. Your son enjoyed the playpark. You have rated our cleanliness as a 6 - in comparison to what i am not sure - this campsite and all the facilities are spotless! More frustratingly you have not listed anything under the dislike column which contradicts the very low overall rating - this is not helpful to us as a business to improve or anyone reading this review!

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay at The Laurels and found the facilities spotlessly clean.
The shop has proved to be a good but tricky venture as we have a Tesco,Aldi and B&M less than 5 minutes drive away and a highly expensive but extensive Farm Shop a minutes drive away. Our shop is primarily designed to stock the basics and things people might have forgotton and need urgently (tea, coffee ,sugar and heinz ketchup mainly)! We are not a big or busy enough site to have a huge lot of fresh produce as it ends up as wastage most of the time so this is where we have a pre order service for fresh bread, pasty's and pastries and keep a stock of milk, cheese, bacon and eggs in our busier times. We do now stock Calor Gas, Firepits, Charcoal, Logs and Kindling but i cannot see us expanding our fresh produce beyond what we already have.
We really appreciate you taking the time to write this great review and do hope we will see you again at some point in the future.
Best Wishes
Sarah and Jo

Local attractions

The Laurels is two miles from the riverside market town of Wadebridge (the bus stops right outside the site), where guests will find good eating and shopping.

A little further up the road is Padstow, which has TV chef Rick Stein’s famously fabulous seafood restaurants and cookery school as well as some fine surfing beaches. Boardmasters can also find ripping fun at nearby Polzeath, and the world famous waves of Newquay are only 15 miles away.

Fans of the Doc Martin TV series should visit the nearby fishing village of Port Isaac to see the doc’s cottage and many other pretty 'Portwenn' locations.

This being Cornwall, there are oodles of interesting things to see and do - too many to list here, but to start you off: it’s only a short drive to the legendary Tintagel Castle, the fascinating biospheres of the Eden Project, or the fishing village of Boscastle.

Guests could also make a day trip to Lands End (perhaps combined with a walk around the attractive harbour town of Penzance), to the National Maritime Museum and dockyards at Falmouth, or to St. Ives, to explore the colourful harbour and art deco splendour of the Tate Gallery.

Must see

  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (2.5 miles)
  • Rock Beach (3.5 miles)
  • Newquay Zoo (10.7 miles)

National Trust

  • Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps (6.7 miles)
  • Trerice (11.0 miles)
