Don't dither about whether to focus on the accommodation or the location of Drummohr Caravan Park in lovely Lothian, for both are equally topping.
The placement of the park is pretty perfect too, with Edinburgh in one direction and the hikes of the East Lothian countryside in the other – the Edinburgh to Prestonpans section of the 134-mile path John Muir's Way passes within five minutes of the site. More? The sands and shoreline of the coast are a few miles away and there's even a golf club (the Royal Musselburgh) right next door…
Like the accommodation and grounds, the Drummohr amenities are modern, clean and well maintained by William and his team: two tiled shower and toilet blocks, each with chemical disposal and a fully-equipped laundry room with metered laundry facilities. Drinking water points and waste disposal are both close to the spacious pitches.
One final little touch? The playground right in the centre of the site, to occupy the offspring while parents get prunelike in the hot tubs.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.

The local bus to Edinburgh runs every ten minutes during the day, every 20 minutes in the evenings, and every hour at night; the journey takes about 40 minutes, and if you decide to drive instead, you should be at Princes Street in about 20 minutes.
You could be there for yonks if you considered all the things to see and do in excellent Edinburgh, but if you're only spending one or two days there, recommended options are Edinburgh Castle (but of course), Holyrood Palace, the National Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh Zoo: climb Corstorphine Hill where the zoo is for first-class views of the city.
Elsewhere, Drummohr's location makes it easy to get to all types of days out around coast, countryside or Scotland's historic houses and stately homes. Very close to home, the Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum has free entry and is a few minutes' walk from the park.
Other recommended trips nearby include Tantallon Castle on its headland overlooking the Firth of Forth, trailing nature at the John Muir Country Park or the Lammermuir Hills, an afternoon among the gardens at Tynninghame House, or taking a boat ride around Bass Rock to see the massive gannet colony (a massive number, not massive birds).
At nearby Dunbar, boat trips are available around its historic harbour, as well as sea angling, boat angling and diving in the nearby waters. The Dunbar harbour kittiwakes are fairly famous: there are about 60 breeding pairs here.
If the kittiwakes and the Bass Rock boat ride get you pondering more about the winged life of the area, the Scottish Seabird Centre is a little bit back along the coast from Dunbar at North Berwick.
