General

  • Well maintained, peaceful park with country views from every pitch
  • Forfar a 10-minute drive; five minutes’ walk to Murton nature reserve
  • Playground and dog-walking area on site and a bar-restaurant next door

Off to Scotland? There’s more than a wee chance you’ll have a top time at Foresterseat Caravan Park less than 10 minutes’ drive from Forfar in the Five Glens of Angus… this site’s a scenic place for sitting with a beer at the end of the day while having a gander across a wild setting.

With an extended burnside dog-walking area at the park and Murton’s nature reserve across the road (about a five-minute wander away) for lakeside lopes and birdwatching – or tasting traditional cream teas at the café – it’s also a sweet spot for strolling. The park connects with Chester’s Path leading into Forfar too, meaning the hour-long circular trot to town goes through lush countryside via the nearby golf course.

In the other direction, you can pass lochs like Rescobie and Balgavie on your way to the walled Pitmuies Gardens with their alpine meadows and marked paths or reroute yourself north west to Angus (20 minutes) for bistros and pubs serving traditional Scottish food as well as international fare.

Get grub here or head back towards the site for eats at the restaurant and bar next door; post-meal, the playground on site is likely where the kids will want to be…

Other facilities at this well-kept, purpose-built park include a modern shower, toilet and washroom block with underfloor heating to keep toes toasty on cooler Scottish mornings and evenings.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The restaurant is open between 20/05 and 01/11.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

    Clean facilities. Quiet.
    Nice restaurant on site.
    Friendly staff.
    Well maintained.
    Level Piches.

    Disliked:

Fully Serviced Pitch which has the drain and tap over 10 m from where we were asked to pitch. Details of how far this was should have been advised in advance. We were unable to use the waste as it was too far for our pipe and we had to purchase a longer hose for the water. Expensive for not having these at the caravan side of the pitch!

Park was only a small park for little children and not good for any child over about 6/7 years old. So nothing to do for children on site.
No easy routes to cycle into town and difficult to cycle on site as all stones and no hard tarmac, again limiting childrens activities on site.

    Poor wifi.

A well-maintained site, run by lovely people. The grounds are clean and well kept, the toilets and dishwashing facilities are cleaned twice daily and are a pleasure to use, with plenty of piping hot water. The restaurant/pub is next door and shopping is in Forfar, only a couple of miles away. We had a super stay here, would recommend.

Local attractions

When it comes to culture, Scotland’s got this in spades. For a trip with a historical bent make your way to Glamis Castle (20 minutes’ drive from the park) for a guided tour of a thousand-year-old building that was the childhood home of the Queen Mother or drop by Arbroath Abbey (20 minutes) – another swish old structure to visit – to see the Declaration of Arbroath, arguably the most well-known document in Scottish history.

Go south to Dundee (30 minutes’ drive) for the 15th-century Broughty Castle Museum on the Tay estuary, a place of top views and geography exhibits, or investigate the nation’s modern heritage at The McManus Dundee's Art Gallery & Museum’s gothic revival building.

Once you’ve nodded your head thoughtfully at all the 19th-to-20th-century pieces here, stop by the Verdant Works to learn about the former jute production industry in this part of the world.

Worn out just hearing about all these educational expeditions? You can always get some fresh air in the countryside at The Glens just outside of the city instead…

Must see
