Won't be returning, pool great but the park has too many downfalls
Electric grass pitch
Liked The pool was amazing but if you are on your own with a non swimmer, you are confined to an area which shelves from 0.2m to about 0.7m depth (in a couple of very small areas).
Disliked The pool was first come, first served, in a heatwave, and there were big queues. Locals were also being allowed to come in on day passes. So we had to rearrange our days after being refused entry. If people queued for both morning and afternoon sessions, they got in for both while others who had young children or people with health conditions couldn't queue, so didn't get in at all. Why not do 3 x 2 hr bookable sessions, so everyone know whats they're doing with their day and can get in? Entertainment was way too loud. Lots of camping pitches back onto hedge rows and we found that campers walked across our pitch to get through holes in the hedge behind our tent, using it as a rat run. Really annoying when you're trying to sleep and people are walking past in flip flops, inches from your head. Lots of pitches were like this. Softplay table area wasn't cleaned during our stay...same rubbish and bits of cheese and chips on the tables throughout.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch (premium)
Liked We stayed on the super deluxe pitch not the premium as displayed above.
Liked..the location is nice and close to Newquay and the flowers are pretty around the reception area
Disliked READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING
We stayed at Monkey Tree for two weeks and unfortunately left very disappointed and would not recommend or return again.
Before arriving, I requested a quieter pitch. We were placed in Fir Field, which was further out and used an overflow car park and what looks like a dumping ground for tents. Despite the field being quite large everyone seems to be crammed together. Pitch 961 which we given
was very noisy because it was so close to the road. So we endured the noises of racing motorbikes etc throughout the night.
The Super Deluxe pitch we booked was also not as advertised. The website shows these pitches enclosed by hedges on all three sides for privacy, but ours had open fence panels at the back and we were overlooked by neighbouring campers. The advert states pitches are level which is also false as our pitch was also significantly unlevel, forcing us to spend £89 on caravan levellers during our holiday. The toilets were outdated and mouldy. Nothing super deluxe about the pitch or the facilities. The hedges that we did have were over grown and the pitch unkept, no thinking like the online pictures.
The pool was another disappointment. After being told twice before our holiday that booking wasn’t required, we still had to queue for over an hour in the heat with our toddler because it was full. We were told this was due to additional weekend tickets being sold to people not staying in the park. In my opinion, this was pure greed and made the park overcrowded for those that had paid significant amounts to stay there.
Despite paying guests having to register everyone staying on site and show ID, visitors were left to roam unchecked, and their car park was literally in the same field as our caravan. There were also very few umbrellas for shade, and the shower rooms by the pool were unclean and poorly maintained. Only half of the pool is accessible for those with toddlers even when adults are present. We also faced staffing issues so the pool had to close for staff lunch breaks and the pool bar was closed due to renovations.
Most concerning was witnessing people openly taking cocaine outside the toilet entrance at the Beach Club, in full view, at what is advertised as a family holiday park, no security to be seen.
What disappointed us most was the response to our complaint. Most of our concerns were ignored, including the misleading pitch description, privacy, security, cleanliness and the drug incident. We were simply told we could have moved pitches after we had already fully set up our caravan and awning, which wasn’t a realistic solution.
For the amount we paid for a two-week stay, we expected much better customer service and a holiday that matched what was advertised. Sadly, we won’t be returning.
We waited a considerable time for a response and were advised that management was waiting for the owners to oversee the matter. However, we were then informed that, due to a large number of new arrivals expected the following day, our concerns would have to wait. This left us with the impression that accommodating new admissions took priority over addressing the concerns of existing residents and their families. And that response once again didn’t come in the stated time frame. So they say in their email please raise any concerns whilst you’re there and don’t wait till you have left and still they ignore you.
