Monkey Tree Holiday Park: Pool area

General

  • Award-winning family-friendly park 10 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Covering 56 acres including a dedicated dog area
  • Pool, play zones, clubhouse and fish and chip takeaway

There’ll be plenty of time for monkey business in this family-friendly site… Surrounded by a whopping 56 acres of countryside and a fab place for taking tiddlers, the award-winning Monkey Tree Holiday Park is 10 minutes from Perranporth and its huge open beach, as well as the lively surf centre of Newquay.

As you might already (luckily) know, the north coast of Cornwall is tiptop for beaches – Newquay's famed for its world-class waves and heady nightlife, while Perranporth has kayaking and hovercrafting to get adventurously stuck into, and top-notch coastal walks on either side of the beach.

Back at base, catch a few pages of your book while the kids splash about in the outdoor heated pool complex… or while they join in with the packed entertainment schedule for juniors (there's a talented in-house entertainment team on hand with a daily kids' club and Funky Monkey putting in a regular appearance). On top of that, a maze of net walkways, slides and ball pools means that younger guests will have plenty to keep them entertained, whatever the weather.

Food's sorted with the on-site clubhouse and restaurant and a fish and chip takeaway (fish and chips + seaside = essential). Or fire up the barbecue instead: hit up the camp store for the essentials, or head to the grocery store 10 minutes away.

We booked this site for the pool.. it made us feel like we were abroad with the very lucky weather we had. Loved the level large pitches and plenty to do with the kids like crazy pirate golf, arcade, soft play, swings and fishing it had it all.
The shop had all what we wanted food and drink. Wine for the misses and beers for me.
Site was clean and tidy and well looked after.
The beach we liked was Holywell great for body boarding and sand castles.

    Friendly staff.
The fishing lakes are very well stocked and the fish are in good condition.
    Pool was nice.

    Disliked:

Lack of toilet and shower facilities. We stayed on pitch 930 and there were 6 male showers, 6 male toilets and 6 urinals for what seemed like a very large number of pitches.
Price of food and drinks! I realise they have a captive group of people however £5 for a pint in a plastic glass seems very unnecessary.
Seem like they are more interested in adding more pitches without the extra facilities needed.

Everything! Site was immaculate, staff were excellent, facilities perfect! Our 9 and 10 year olds loved it and we were happy for them to explore alone with their new friends as the security was first class. Pool was amazing and the crazy golf and play areas well maintained. Location was great for exploring the area and visiting attractions such as the Eden Project and Newquay and Padstow were close by and Perranporth beach was a 5 minute drive away. Will definitely stay again.

Beautiful place, the outdoor pool area is amazing with an abroad holiday feel. The camp is so clean due to the team of cleaners and staff that never seems to stop working. Well stocked shop and bar. Very helpful friendly staff.woul highly recommended this camp to anyone. Thank you Monkey Tree.

    Disliked:

Their was a heavy presence of the traveller community which ruined the holiday for us. Their children would fight anyone that look at them. We we're told by staff to stay away from the sports area, park and the amusement area when they were present.

    Pitch,swimming pool area,
The place is beautiful staff very friendly.

    Disliked:

The shop was not stocked very well. The summer nights bar was closed.we had one day when the weather was dull wet and cold. Their was nothing to keep the guests entertained ie bingo, quiz etc.
On one occasion I had to speak to a member of the bar staff due to the ladies toilets within the club house smeared with poo. Around 1.5 to 2 hours later it was still like that. We were directed to a bus stop as we wanted to venture out, it was a about a 10/15 minutes walk up a long county road with no pavements.

Local attractions

Cornwall’s coastline and beaches are pretty much legendary, but Newquay (10 minutes) is world-famed for its surf and nightlife too. It’s a party town from daybreak until well after dark and the surf's so good they hold international competitions here – check out Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay.

Perranporth (10 minutes) is the place to head for a more relaxed beach day, though it’s very popular so best to get your towel down early. The beach here is a fab spot for dog walking, rolling up the trousers for a paddle or lazing around and copping a look at the views.

The Eden Project (35 minutes) has the UK’s most realistic rainforest, full of rare plant species and exotic butterflies, as well as a pretty nifty Mediterranean biome. Daredevils can also have a go on England’s longest zipwires – or head over to Flambards in Helston (45 minutes) for flumes, rollercoasters and go karting.

Must see

  • Lappa Valley Steam Railway (2.3 miles)
  • Newquay Zoo (4.3 miles)
  • Blue Reef Aquarium (4.4 miles)

  • Trerice (3.3 miles)
  • Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps (9.4 miles)
