General

  • Pop-up campsite in a scenic location by the Lancaster Canal
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Lancaster; Morecambe 25 minutes
  • Suitable for paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and fishing

Glasson Dock Campsite is a fab pop-up camping field in a scenic waterside location a few metres from Glasson Marina. Spending so much time by the Lancaster Canal is bound to be good for the soul, what with the narrowboats chugging along, the wildlife that lives in and around the water and the opportunities for paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and walking that abound in the local area.

Guests here have three watery areas to explore: the Lancaster Canal, the river Lune and the Lancashire coast, which is perhaps best appreciated 25 minutes' drive away to the north at Morecambe Bay. The compact city of Lancaster (15 minutes) is close at hand too and has plenty of supermarkets, shops and places for dinner out.

This simple site is equipped with functional portaloo toilets and cold outdoor showers and is a five-minute stroll from the various cafés and eateries of Glasson Dock, which is the starting point for a number of footpaths and bike trails. Glasson Dock Campsite is a low-key, laidback campsite where dogs, barbecues and campfires are all allowed.

Travelling without a car? Glasson Dock Campsite is a few minutes' walk from a bus stop, where you can catch regular services to Lancaster and beyond.

Cheap, close to Lancaster, lots of space, could walk to Marina, along canal to places for food, join the Greenway and walk etc. Late arrival ok. Other campers great

    Disliked:

The reason it's 4 stars is that it's basic- showers are somewhat rustic, portaloos are always portaloos. Whilst both were clean enough, I wimped and found a hot shower at a service station.

Beautiful spot in Lancs countryside. Lovely walks nearby.
Good field for pitching a tent.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately we were at the site on the same night as a group of people that continued to play music through a sound system until 5am, singing along and talking all through the night. This meant the beautiful calm, peacefulness of the surroundings was shattered and neither of us was able to sleep.
We got up in the morning, early and grumpy and hit the road.
I imagine a lot of fellow campers felt the same.
I think there needs to be a clear cut off time for revelry in a field of random campers that needs to be stated up front and upheld by the owner when so obviously not adhered to.

Campsite signposted. Lovely large level field situated close to Lancaster canal and Glasson dock Marina is within easy walking distance via the canal. Was recommended a walk to Glasson Marina holiday park bar for a cheeky drink just a short walk away. Hubby was able to launch his paddleboard from the slipway on camp, and paddle down to the Marina. There are 2 portaloos and 2 cold showers which my hubby said was refreshing due to the hot weather we were experiencing.
2 water points are also available. A lovely place to chill for the weekend.

    Disliked:

Only a small dislike but could do with more than 2 portaloos at busy times .

camp site was nothing but a field with 2 porta loos and a hose pipe for a shower.
also had a delapidated porta cabin on site that was not part of the facilities.
£20 for a field with no facilities was very over priced
