  • Pop-up campsite in a scenic location by the Lancaster Canal
  • A 15-minute drive from Lancaster; Morecambe 25 minutes
  • Suitable for paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and fishing
The best thing about the waterside location of Glasson Dock Campsite? For some guests it will be the chance to chill out and watch canal boats chugging along or see wildlife flitting about. For others it’s all about the active options – this is a spot where you can launch canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, fish or find lovely canalside walks. This fab pop-up camping field is next to the Lancaster Canal, a few metres from Glasson Marina. As well as the canal, the river Lune is close by – and it’s not far to the Lancashire coast, perhaps best appreciated 25 minutes’ drive away at Morecambe Bay. The compact city of Lancaster (15 minutes) is close at hand too and has plenty of supermarkets, shops and places for dinner out. This simple site is equipped with functional portable toilets and cold outdoor showers and is a five-minute stroll from the various cafés and eateries of Glasson Dock, which is the starting point for a number of footpaths and bike trails. The campsite is a laidback place where dogs, barbecues and campfires are all allowed and you’ll have space for an awning or gazebo if you like. Travelling without a car? Glasson Dock Campsite is a few minutes' walk from a bus stop, where you can catch regular services to Lancaster and beyond.

What customers say

A no-frills campsite in a great canal-side spot. Offers lovely views, walking, and watersports. Spacious pitches with hook-ups. Friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are basic but clean, though showers lack hot water and cubicles are small. Some campers noted noise late at night.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The location is amazing, lovely area to walk and only 10 mins drive to lancaster, though the toilets are small they are ok for a short stay (not easy with young kids and getting privacy).

Disliked Unfortunately we had campers playing loud music past 2am so the laid back vibe can be disruptive. Toilets could be better.

Liked Location.
Pitch types.
Ability to request pitches next to each other (family booking).

Disliked Children’s play park in disrepair.
Toilet are extremely cramped (knees touching the inside of the door 🥴) and only 2 (for each gender) available for a site with 50 pitches.
Only 1 shower per gender, but no issues with availability because there’s no hot water.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked I loved this campsite, me and my son had an excellent 2 day stay here. Really close to the canal which was a lovely walk and a shop/cafe/pub nearby. The owner was lovely and came to greet us when we arrived. Great public transport links to Lancaster and beyond.

Disliked The toilets are quite small, the door was closing pushed up against my knees. Made it a bit difficult for my son to have privacy when using the toilet as he is still too small to climb on and off a toilet himself.
