Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Staff are very friendly and helpful. The grounds around the static caravans are beautifully kept. There is a nice sunny sitting area outside the pub.

Disliked I’m not a whinger but I feel I need to be honest with things I didn’t like on this occasion. The touring area is quite small which is also reflected in the size of many of the pitches. Once a caravan put up an awning there was little space to park a car, which resulted in random cars parked on any spare bit of grass, either local to the owners van or somewhere else. Much of the touring site is taken up by seasonal pitches, with the resulting fences, storage boxes, bbq areas etc, which all takes up otherwise parking areas. In the area we were in our neighbours were constantly playing loud music, shouting or arguing with each other, although it did quieten down at 23.00 hours. We did in fact meet some really nice people during our stay, they were not all rowdy. There is a lake on site where it is claimed contains fish. In the time we were there I did not see any sign of life in it except for ducks, possibly due to the large amount of duck crap which was all over the place and in the lake. The toilet facilities are tired and in much need of renovation. Sorry to sound negative but I speak as I find.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Close to Bamburgh Castle and the Holy island, an easily accessible campsite on the river which runs along the rear of the tourers pitches. There are a large number of pitches. Water and facilities are all close by.

Toilets and showers looked and smelled clean, there is a children's play area and fishing lake, there is an onsite restaurant and club house.

Ducks and Geese roam free around the pitches, we found them sleeping outside our van in the morning.

This was fine for us as we passed through on our tour of Scotland and Northern England.

The WiFi is a paid for service if you need it, Cell signal is fine.

Disliked The pitches are stacked close to each other and small, without fire break or a hedge to separate you from your neighbour. There are a number of seasonal pitches here who may be left over from when this was a Haven site. The vans look old and unkempt with one individual washing their car on the end of their pitch and pouring the soapy dirty water down the clean water drain. The facilities although clean, really need a revamp and some care, again maybe more the fault of the legacy clientele, wads of paper strewn across the loo floor, dirty cracked sinks.

There are a number of water points, one of which is at the back of a pitch, a gentleman decided that he needed to use to this water point to fill his water butt whilst a family ate their meal on said pitch. Maybe he wanted to avoid the soapy one?!

The fishing lake was found and can never be forgotten, sadly due to nature this is just a massive ring of duck and goose faecal matter. Natural yes, health hazard? Maybe. At least the band of unsupervised young ladies chasing the ducks with a witches broom may sort this issue out.

Camping pod

Liked We liked the fact there was plenty of outdoor space for the children to run around. Although none gated and pods on road

Disliked Nothing there site is outdated pods were tiny and dirty, we booked three nights left after one night. Smelled terrible the pod from the fridge and the pod just not being cleaned at all. Farm entertainerment for kids every morning crossed off. Food stopped serving very early in the evening only options were take out. The facilities were very bad standard. We were desperate to leave.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for sharing your experience Annalise — we’re really sorry to hear it didn’t meet expectations. While it’s great the outdoor space was appreciated, the issues with cleanliness, pod condition, limited food options, and cancelled entertainment are deeply concerning.
Your feedback is important and will be passed on to the team to help us make urgent improvements.
We’re genuinely sorry for the disappointment and hope we can do better in the future. 🛠️

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The weather.

Disliked Pitches too close together sardines in a can comes to mind, photos on website dont resemble riverside touring pitches. No respect for others space just walk through pitches instead of walking round the path. Toilet blocks in desperate need of cleaning & upgrade. They did repair a cold water tap in disabled toilet the day it was reported. We had booked a week & left after 3 nights. The final straw was my husband finding the mens toilet block with faeces all over floor.

Trip-trap over the bridge from Riverside Country Park to Wooler, a pretty medieval market town with some alluring eateries, pubs and shops, and the ideal starting point for walks into the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. Cycling, fishing, golfing and horse riding fans will also find rich pickings nearby. If you haven’t explored the Northumberland coastline before, you’re in for a treat. Expect atmospheric ancient edifices in spectacular surroundings, such as Bamburgh Castle and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne; seaside villages like Seahouses, where you can jump aboard a sea safari boat to the Farne Islands; and miles and miles of nature reserves and wide sandy beaches. You can follow Hadrian’s Wall westbound from its start point in Wallsend, stopping off at Roman forts in scenic settings as you head in the direction of Carlisle; travel along peaceful country roads to explore the Scottish borders; or south to visit Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden, contemporary gardens with one of the world’s biggest treehouses. For city lights, hit the A1 for an easy ride to Newcastle and Gateshead, both buzzing with culture (try the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art or a gig at the Sage Concert Hall), museums, football, restaurants, nightlife and shops; or head further north for a day trip to the many-splendoured delights of Edinburgh.
