Park setting

  • Friendly well-maintained park on the banks of Wooler Water
  • Lounge bar, restaurant and entertainment in peak season
  • A 10-minute uphill walk from the medieval market town of Wooler
Avoid the crowds crawling to the southwest coast and breeze your way to Riverside Leisure Park on the edge of the Northumberland National Park instead… This is a friendly, well-maintained site on the banks of Wooler Water, with plenty to appeal to the whole family: perhaps pottering around the riverbanks and stunning woodland, setting up for a bit of fly fishing, or a few rounds of pool in the games room. The park has good essential amenities, including a lounge bar and restaurant with Sky Sports and BT Sports, a launderette, play area and entertainment over peak season. It's also only 10 minutes' uphill walk away from the centre of Wooler, a medieval market town with restaurants, coffee shops and lots to browse around.

What customers say

Spacious, level pitches with good water/electric. Riverside location and friendly staff are highlights. Canny Owl pub and pool are popular. Showers/toilets are dated and small, with occasional cleanliness/hot water issues. Pitches can be close, some noise reported.

Liked 1st and last time we'd go there.
**NO! TV SIGNAL**Luckly we had our own Internet and firestick.
Pitches far too small, couldn't put up our awning on pitch 30 because the tap, its muddy as soon as you step out of your caravan, and as soon as you do your inundated with Ducks about 12,and their droppings.
We tried to get moved but was told by the girl at the reception that they couldn't as we booked through Pitchup otherwise she could have if we had booked direct through them.
Toilets are outdated,1 out of the 3 was moving off the floor and water was leaking out of the bottom, and toilet 2, the seat was all loose, not very well maintained.
Nothing on Site,no pool, shop or pub,you have to walk about 10 mins or so to get to it.
People we spoke to said they wouldn't go back.
Very dissapointed, and not what we expected,we left a day early.

Disliked Toilet maintainance keep the smaller tighter pitches for small motorhomes not large caravans.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you experienced several issues during your visit.

We apologise for the problems with the toilet facilities and appreciate you bringing the maintenance concerns to our attention. We also understand your frustration regarding the pitch size, awning space and muddy conditions, and we're sorry that we were unable to offer you an alternative pitch at the time.

We appreciate that the lack of on-site facilities and TV reception may also have impacted your experience. Your comments have been noted and will be shared with the relevant team as we continually look for ways to improve our site.

It's a shame you chose to cut your holiday short and left feeling disappointed. Thank you again for your honest feedback.

Liked Great location and very helpful staff. Site is very busy so only the minimal allowed space between pitches but the pay off to this is the great location.

Disliked It would be good to have a few more showers and toilets as it is a large busy site and as such the small number struggle to cope. They are regularly cleaned but people will be people!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We're pleased to hear you enjoyed our fantastic location and found our team helpful and welcoming. We appreciate that the site can get busy, particularly during peak periods, and understand your comments regarding the space between pitches and the number of shower and toilet facilities available. Thank you for your feedback, which we will certainly take on board. We're glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope to welcome you back again soon!

Local attractions

Trip-trap over the bridge from Riverside Leisure Park to Wooler, a pretty medieval market town with some alluring eateries, pubs and shops, and the ideal starting point for walks into the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. Cycling, fishing, golfing and horse riding fans will also find rich pickings nearby. If you haven’t explored the Northumberland coastline before, you’re in for a treat. Expect atmospheric ancient edifices in spectacular surroundings, such as Bamburgh Castle and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne; seaside villages like Seahouses, where you can jump aboard a sea safari boat to the Farne Islands; and miles and miles of nature reserves and wide sandy beaches. You can follow Hadrian’s Wall westbound from its start point in Wallsend, stopping off at Roman forts in scenic settings as you head in the direction of Carlisle; travel along peaceful country roads to explore the Scottish borders; or south to visit Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden, contemporary gardens with one of the world’s biggest treehouses. For city lights, hit the A1 for an easy ride to Newcastle and Gateshead, both buzzing with culture (try the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art or a gig at the Sage Concert Hall), museums, football, restaurants, nightlife and shops; or head further north for a day trip to the many-splendoured delights of Edinburgh.
