  • Seaside family park 15 minutes' drive from Lowestoft
  • Access to lots of sporting and watersports activities
  • Spa, sports bar, pools, adventure playground, bar and restaurant
Starland Krew and sandcastles for the munchkins, a spa bath, a sports bar, and fish and chip-fuelled smiles all round… guests can pick and mix from a vast menu of family activities at Kessingland Beach Holiday Park, on the gorgeous Suffolk coast just north of the Benacre National Nature Reserve and 15 minutes' drive from Lowestoft. Guests at this seaside site have access to great sports and watersports facilities, playing all sorts of games at the multisports court, shooting down the waterslide into the indoor pool, splashing about in the open-air pool or wallowing contentedly in the adjacent hot tub. For the under-11s, the kids' clubs have activities to please sporty, arty and smartypants types alike and there’s an undercover play area and an outdoor adventure playground too, with a zipwire for the intrepid and swings and slides for those who prefer more placid playtime. Whatever activity you select can be followed up by gathering all ages for something from the frisky programme of family entertainment for the evenings. Aside from the chippy and other takeaway food, the on-site Boathouse bar and restaurant serves up a good range of grub. Go on, have that pudding – there’s a lovely beach right outside where you can stroll it all off.

What customers say

Staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. Guests enjoy the site's proximity to the beach and its family-friendly entertainment and activities. However, a recurring concern is the condition of the toilet and shower facilities, which are frequently described as dated, unclean, and sometimes smelly, with issues like lack of hot water or insufficient cleaning reported. The distance of these facilities from camping pitches is also a common complaint. Pitch quality varies, with some experiencing waterlogging.

Electric grass pitch (large)

Liked Everyone around the camping was really friendly. Pitch was easy to find. The entertainment for children was really good and staff so friendly. Toilet and showers were clean.

Disliked Even though the toilet and shower were clean they had a bad smell to them.

Liked The pitch was a good size and reasonably flat. (Electric large pitch)
The resort itself was ok but quite dated.

Disliked The toilet and shower block! Disgusting! Dirty and constantly smelt. I saw the cleaner a number of times and all he did was sweep/mop the floor and change the toilet paper. I never saw him with any cleaning materials/chemicals! This is in both the male and females!

Also the block is far away from the campers! Not so bad if you are an electric pitch but the non electric are miles away from the toilet block. I saw people driving to the block cause it was too far to walk.

Liked The site was in a beach location and close to a great town so we liked the location. The pools and the entertainment complex were fab and the staff were all lovely. The lack of Wifi and telephone connection was poor.

Disliked The shower block was too far away from the touring pitches. It was in a ridiculous place and so rank it was obviously a very old building with drainage problems. The toilets in the main complex and swimming pools were equally gross. There were no electric points in the amenities to charge phones etc which was a problem for the non electric pitches.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely staff, maintenance men who drove around the camping section was very friendly and couldn’t do more to help. Lady in the shop very friendly. A lot to do on site was a good site.

Pitches a good size and located nicely in the site, I also asked to be close enough to the toliet block as we have young kids and I was placed at a nice distance so very much appreciated that.

Disliked Toliet was not always the cleanest and smelt sometimes.

Showers flooded - could do with an upgrade however not as bad as some people made out

No signal at all and couldn’t get the wifi on the camping area

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Had the best time, we allways do, lovely entertainment and staff couldn't be nicer.

Disliked We did leave early but that had nothing to do with the park, just we were camping in a tent and it was 26 degrees.

Prices for drinks are ridiculously expensive £4.50 for a small coke, food prices are reasonable.I would recommend the fish and chips shop was delicious and the staff are friendly and chatty.

Liked I liked the close proximity to the beach. The activities for children were mainly ok. The staff attending to the children's activities were very helpful and happy.

Disliked I felt that the pitches were too close together. The showers and toilets were not cleaned properly. The toilets in the arcade were absolutely disgusting and sometimes there wasn't any toilet paper or hand wash. There is a sign before you go into the toilets stating their toilets are cleaned to a high standard. So wrong. I booked activities for my 8 year old grandson online before we arrived (as was advised) and on two of the activities he was the only child participating which was very upsetting for him and not enjoyable. I thought they could have rang me to let me know because we rushed of the beach for the activity which lasted 15 minutes. The staff switched my grandson to another activity to enjoy with other children. He was on his own and was looking forward to making friends and enjoy the company of other children.

Local attractions

The nearby seaside towns of Lowestoft (15 minutes' drive) and Southwold (20 minutes) are among the most charming in the country: think fab family beaches, candy-coloured beach huts, piers and proms, plus buckets and spades of old-school charm. Aim for the former if you're after a bit of watersports action, or pick the latter for chi-chi shops, a zany pier attraction and seafront walks to Walberswick. Swap beaches for beasties with family outings to see the exotic beasts roaming the plains of Suffolk at Africa Alive! (five minutes), or seek out seahorses, sharks and penguins at Sea Life Great Yarmouth (35 minutes). For wildlife of a more local variety, nip up to the waterways of the Norfolk Broads (half an hour) where you can become captain of your own boat for the day (or take a tour if you're unsure of your navigational expertise…) For family fun on a grand scale, head to Pleasurewood Family Theme Park (25 minutes); at the opposite end of the spectrum is the tiny townscape at Merrivale Model Village (35 minutes). And somewhere in the middle is the swish Victorian pad at Somerleyton Hall (half an hour), where both mansion and gardens are worth a stroll.
