Grass riverside pitches with electric hook up at rockbridge park

  • Peaceful escape in green countryside in the Welsh Borders
  • Riverside setting a mile from the market town of Presteigne
  • A 10-minute drive from the Offa's Dyke centre and the Shropshire Hills
Have a hol among hills and alongside the River Lugg at Rockbridge Park, a small family-run site in the Welsh Borders. Surrounded by trees and shrubs in a peaceful setting, this pretty place is within easy reach of days out around the countryside, walks, villages and towns of Powys and beyond. When not roaming the region, spend time lying back on site with your nose in a book, fishing in the river or setting off on strolls nearby. Top spots for touring a little further on include Offa's Dyke, 10 minutes’ drive away, for ambles along the ancient path on the edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pup wagging his or her tail at the thought of walkies? They’ll be mighty pleased to scamper around the secure dog walk or one of the off-lead areas at this level site, or perhaps among the hills at the Brecon Beacons National Park 35 minutes to the south. The park also has a special dog-wash setup for rinsing all the mud off afterwards; an amenities block has free hot showers for humans to freshen up in too, and there's wifi on site. While your four-legged friend recovers from all the excitement, snatch some time to yourself in Presteigne, the traditional Welsh market town a five-minute drive away with its pubs, restaurants, takeaways, cafés, shops and acclaimed deli.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Toilets and showers were very clean
Location was amazing, tent pitches were right next to the stream which was scenic
Pitches were not too close to there to other tent and caravan pitches which was lovely and there was lots of space and privacy
Pitches were level

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Beautiful place to stay, very peaceful , brand new site all very clean. Staff helpful & friendly wanted to stay longer, relaxing
Lovely little stream running behind our pitch kept dogs cool. Close to nice friendly old style village, with pubs, coffee shops , chips shop & few old style shops.

Disliked 30 minutes Walk to village along country road no paths or a walk through fields but couldn't get large dogs over sties. Needs a on site pub/ Club ,a swimming pool would make this site .

From the manager: Thank you for the great review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We are very lucky to be situated where we are and you get the dark skies and peace and quiet. We have been in talks with local farmers with the footpaths and putting gates in. We don't have these facilities on park as we like to support the local community, and not loose them from the town.

We hope to see you again in the future at Rockbridge Park.

Electric grass pitch (riverside)

Liked The site was really clean and lovely, well looked after and the staff very friendly.
There was an off lead dog area which was really good and there was a basket of toys there which came in handy with our crazy dog!
The facilities were really tidy and clean
Lovely riverside walk and pitches
Close to some lovely places like Hefran Forest
Free WiFi as well!

Disliked The only downside (nothing major) is the ladies showers weren’t very powerful but still felt clean after a shower

From the manager: Thank you for you kind review we are so glad that you had a good stay with us. We have just brought in the dog baskets in the dog walking area so we are glad to hear that your dog enjoyed play with them. Also what great photos, thank you for putting them on pitch up. Even of the visitors that came over the river.

We are looking into the showers, so watch this space.

Hopefully see you again soon at Rockbridge Park.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautifully kept site in a quiet, stunning location. Friendly staff, amazing facilities which were kept impeccably clean. Location good for walking directly from site or driving short distances to nearby towns and attractions. Lovely to have the use of an amazing on-site observatory, although we were there around the longest day, so it was difficult to see much as the sky was not dark enough. A good reason to return later in the year!

Disliked A shame to see scorched grass patches near our pitch from previous guests, on the otherwise beautifully kept area, which staff obviously work hard to keep looking good. They reasonably ask their guests to keep bbq’s raised off the grass.

From the manager: Thank you for your amazing review we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are in the perfect location for to explore Mid Wales and to see all that it has to offer.

We do talk to people about making sure their BBQ's are 12 inches off the ground but sometimes this can be a little to late when we see it is not and the grass is already scorched.

We hope to see you back again soon, then you will get chance to use the stargazing dome and telescope to your full advantage.

Electric grass pitch (riverside)

Liked The facilities were extremely clean throughout our say, the dog wash was a nice touch as a beautiful stream ran across the back of the campsite and our dog loved paddling in it, fabulous walk to the village, map supplied in information pack

Disliked Nothing to dislike

From the manager: Thank you for the amazing review, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay here with us. What great photos of our new water feature on park. The river running through our park is a very lucky feature to have and it makes the pitches on the riverside peaceful.

The walk into Presteigne is a lovely walk through the fields and we are glad to hear the map helped with the walk.

We hope to see you again soon at Rockbridge Park.

Local attractions

Presteigne is a compact spot but it’s well worth swinging by for a look at The Judge's Lodging, an award-winning museum five minutes’ drive away that gives an insight into the grandeur of the masters’ lives on the top floors versus the servants who lived down below. Not so much further on is Knighton (10 minutes) with its community and arts centres for rainy days, along with a local railway link and access to Glyndŵr's Way for wanders along a path named after a Welsh legend. Another 10 minutes (20 from the park) from there is the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre for a glimpse of animals ranging from miniature horses to nocturnal birds. Top towns are scattered around this rural region too: think Leominster (30 minutes away) for sights like grand Berrington Hall (40 minutes) with its views over to the Black Mountains; the famed book and festival town of Hay-on-Wye (35 minutes); or Ludlow to see the castle and Tudor buildings or peruse posh boutiques (40 minutes).
