General

  • Peaceful park in the centre of the Cheshire canal network
  • 100-acre site five miles from Nantwich with easy access from the M6
  • Heated amenities, barbecue and picnic areas, restaurant with bar

You might reckon that this Cheshire site is right near some water. And you'd go to the top of the class, for Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park is on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, in the centre of the Cheshire canal network and surrounded by towpath for waterside walks.

Or might you just fancy sitting by the marina and watching the canal boats drift lazily by? (All the better to plot which type you're going to acquire when that lottery win is yours, all yours.)

Other lazy options at this peaceful Nantwich park include the barbecue and picnic areas, or lounging around in the Galley restaurant, which has a licensed bar and monthly social events. The many shops, cafés and pubs of market town Nantwich are a five-mile drive away for lazy urban afternoons.

Aqueduct Marina is set on 100 acres of peaceful Cheshire farmland, with easy access to the M6 and off the B5074 in Church Minshull, near Chester and north Wales. Families, couples, small groups and dogs are all welcome.

As well as the barbecue and picnic areas, the park owners have also added a secure night-time barrier, CCTV, a DIY servicing bay and a recycling compound. A licensed bar is on site with monthly social events on the last weekend of the month.

Amenities are bang up to date on site too and include showers and toilets with underfloor heating and hairdryers, as well as a laundry room with washing machine, dryer and ironing table.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The restaurant is open from 9.30am until 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Thank you for your lovely review.
You were not a problem panicking, it's such a shame that the weather was so bad and we unfortunately had the power cut while you were here.
It was lovely meeting you and we look forward to your return, hopefully with better weather next time!!

Lovely site with excellent facilities. The pitch was fully serviced, the amenities block was warm with a lovely shower and the cafe does great food.

    Disliked:

The only very minor issue is that the chemical toilet point is sited for the boats rather than routers.

From the manager...

Thank you for your kind review.
The chemical toilet point was sited originally for the boats as the caravan park is only around 18 months old, it is central to both.
We are constantly looking at improving and making changes.

Good sized fully serviced pitch .. clean caravan pitch area.. nice marina and great receptionist.. cafe lovely with great friendly waitress.

    Disliked:

Very noisy with heavy goods vehicles up and down internal road all day as working site.. cafe closed from 4.00pm ...we booked the site so we could go across for a wine in the evening but very pared down for winter bit price still £26 a night.. felt ripped off.. should be well reduced in winter.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review.
We are a working marina so during the week there will be some noise between 8am and 5pm. We have no work being done at the weekends or in the evenings.
The pitch has been reduced for winter, the cost for a fully serviced pitch is £21.00 per night.
It clearly states the opening hours of our Galley cafe on the Pitchup website.

We have stayed very happily at this site set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside several times now and we will return there again. The historic town of Nantwich with its beautiful historic architecture is only a short drive away and well worth a visit.

    Disliked:

As the weather is now getting colder, a hot shower is eagerly anticipated. Although the showers are always clean and comfortable, the electric shower could be re-set at a higher temperture for a really luxurious shower.

From the manager...

Thank you for your kind review.
It's great that you have been staying with us regularly.
Unfortunately the temperature of the showers is pre-set to a safe temperature.
We look forward to seeing you again.

Nice site with really good facilities. The weather was awful but as the pitch was hard standing, we didn't get muddy. We would have liked to walk on the canal towpath but the incessant rain made the area really muddy so we had to spend the weekend on the site, just taking the dog for a walk between showers. The marina is interesting if you like narrow boats and the picnic areas overlooking the marina would be really nice in the summer.

Local attractions

Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park's Cheshire location and easy access from the M6 means it's in a most handy spot to get to heaps of tourist attractions around this part of the north west and Chester.

A popular option in the area is Oulton Park, the racing track in the little village of Budworth that bills itself as the most picturesque track in all the land, or you could hike around the wilds of nearby Delamere Forest, or stick to lazy days and potter around small Cheshire villages like Tattenhall and Tarpoley.

Chester is also easily accessible from the caravan park and has heaps to see among its old streets and swish shops. Animal fans make their way to Chester Zoo on the outskirts of the city to see as many as possible of its 12,000+ animals and over 400 species; if nature is your animalish thing, also get along to the Blue Planet Aquarium and its 100 or so living displays including the biggest school of sharks in Europe.

Green fingered? Clear the car boot and drive over to Bridgemere, one of the biggest garden centres in the world and with all things gardenlike as well as toys and clothes in its mammoth shopping centre.
