Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park: Some images around the site

General

  • Peaceful park in the centre of the Cheshire canal network
  • 100-acre site five miles from Nantwich with easy access from the M6
  • Heated amenities; barbecue and picnic areas; café with licensed bar

Given its name, you might reckon that this Cheshire site is right near some water. And you'd go to the top of the class, for Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park is on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, in the centre of the Cheshire canal network and surrounded by towpaths for waterside walks. Or might you just fancy sitting by the marina and watching the canal boats drift lazily by? (All the better to plot which type you're going to acquire when that lottery win is yours, all yours…)

Other lazy options at this peaceful park include the barbecue and picnic areas, or lounging around in the Galley café which has a licensed bar and monthly social events. The many shops, cafés and pubs of market town Nantwich are a five-mile drive away for lazy urban afternoons.

Aqueduct Marina is set on 100 acres of peaceful Cheshire farmland, with easy access to the M6 and off the B5074 in Church Minshull, near Chester and north Wales. Families, couples, small groups and dogs are all welcome.

As well as the barbecue and picnic areas, the park owners have also added a secure night-time barrier, CCTV, a DIY servicing bay and a recycling compound. A licensed bar is on site with monthly social events on the last weekend of the month.

Amenities are bang up to date on site too and include showers and toilets with underfloor heating and hairdryers, as well as a laundry room with washing machine, dryer and ironing table.

Please note

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Tents are not accepted at this park.

The café is open from 9.30am until 4pm Monday to Sunday.

We did not stay on the site but it looked very nice.

    Disliked:

We arrived and the barrier was down. We phoned and left message. Walked to reception and note said site was closed because of Queen's funeral. We drove home. We have been in touch with the site and they apologised and said they had e-mailed to say the site was closing for the day and they had sent further e-mail giving barrier key code and our pitch number. We received the first e-mail after we had returned home but did not receive the second e-mail at all. Having spoken to the site they have offered a full refund of £70 payable by Pitchup and free coffee should we return to the site in the future (which we may well do).

Lovely spacious pitches (and fully serviced), the reception team were wonderful and could not do enough to help you enjoy your stay, good facilities and on site cafe, a nice small quiet site and it was lovely to see all the narrow boats in the marina. Also, of course two great pubs, one in each direction!

Great place to stay with very easy access, great facilities & friendly staff.

Just one downside for us & that is the 11.00am departure time, this is rather early for us, the usual departure time on similar sites is 12.00 midday, so why can this norm not be adopted on your site?

Local attractions

Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park's Cheshire location and easy access from the M6 means it's in a most handy spot to get to heaps of tourist attractions around this part of the north west and Chester.

A popular option in the area is Oulton Park, the racing track in the little village of Budworth that bills itself as the most picturesque track in all the land, or you could hike around the wilds of nearby Delamere Forest, or stick to lazy days and potter around small Cheshire villages like Tattenhall and Tarporley.

Chester is also easily accessible from the caravan park and has heaps to see among its old streets and swish shops. Animal fans make their way to Chester Zoo on the outskirts of the city to see as many as possible of its 12,000+ animals and over 400 species; if nature is your animalish thing, also get along to the Blue Planet Aquarium and its 100 or so living displays including the biggest school of sharks in Europe.

Green fingered? Clear the car boot and drive over to Bridgemere, one of the biggest garden centres in the world and with all things gardenlike as well as toys and clothes in its mammoth shopping centre.
