It's likely you'll hold Chester site Tarvin Sands dear to your heart – especially the keen fishers among you. Three coarse fishing lakes are on the site, crammed with 30lb fish including carp, bream, roach, tench, chub, perch and rudd. Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The fishing is brilliant. The two guys that run are very welcoming.

Disliked: The toilets etc aren't the best, all though I believe the womens is in a better state than the mens, I had to shower my son in the ladies. You can tell there isn't a woman involved on site. I would have been quite happy to mop up after we had finishes with the facilities had there have been a mop etc to hand. We have been before so I remembered to take some bleach and wipes with me :)

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Fishing was good

Disliked: I’ve fished at Tarvin sands before it was a camp site . It use to be very relaxing But I stayed for two nights the hole site is poorly maintained shower and toilet were dirty , rotting timber all around the site When I was fishing there were foreign speaking families fishing close by not sticking to any pegs shouting when one of them caught a fish and running up and down the bank . They didn’t have landing nets .Later they returned to their camp fire but the children returned unattended and began snapping tree branches and taking them to there camp presumably to burn The fish use to be in really good condition but a lot of fish had badly damaged mouths clearly from people fishing with large hooks heavy lines and dragging fish to the bank . I wood guess these people didn’t have fishing licence To some up as a fishery it was second to none but as a camp site it’s total failing

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The open space was amazing load of space and no one was close to us. Both Richie and Joe were amazing from knowing the best fishing spots to allowing us to use the outside socket to charge our phones as we had forgot our power banks. They really do put a lot of time into the place and it’s shows when you speak to them how passionate they are about it. It’s not where they want it to be and they know that but there making it work and spending there time trying to make it an awesome place and we appreciated the piece and quite. It’s a campsite and a fishery the cafe and tackle shop are not open currently but there are plans for this to happen in the near future too. We wish you guys the best of luck and thank you for an amazing stay and memories that will last a lifetime.

Disliked: The showers could do with an upgrade but there working on it as we speak. As well as a washing up station.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We have never been camping before so wanted somewhere close to home before adventuring with the kiddos and for some very needed peace and quiet. Absolutely fantastic place. Toilets and showers were really clean and looked after. Stunning lakes all full to the brim with fish. Although we didn’t fish we will definitely be fishing next time we go. The guys that own it couldn’t do enough for you and were super friendly honestly made us feel so relaxed. We explained we were there to escape the kids a bit and they even tried to direct people away from our tent so we could have that even though we expected others. Couldn’t get over how amazing get over how amazing the views were. A hidden gem for sure and we will definitely be back to fish.

Local attractions

Tarvin Sands has heaps of room on site to wander around, picnic in and wildlife watch, but if you're here to also see a bit of Cheshire and the northwest, you'll find it's in handy locale for getting out and about. Liverpool, Manchester and north Wales are all within a short drive. It's a smashing site for kids too, as it's close to famed family attractions like Chester Zoo as well as the kid-friendly fare in nearby Chester: try the Chester ghost hunter trail, the miniature railway at Grosvenor Park and the pools and flumes at Northgate Arena. The Tarvin Sands team also reckons you should take a look at Blakemere Craft village, the farm animals, play areas and tasty treats of Chester's The Ice Cream Farm, and family adventure play park the Crocky Trail.
