General

  • Set in 25 acres of Cheshire countryside
  • Three fishing lakes, on-site café and its own reindeer herd
  • Easy access to Chester Zoo and Delamere Forest

Reindeer! In Cheshire! You'll hold Chester site Big Foot Glamping and Camping At Tarvin Sands deer to your little holiday heart – and here there be fishing too.

But Rudolph and pals first... Big Foot is home to a herd of UK born and raised reindeer, a right friendly bunch who you should be able to see being fed and exercised when they're out and about. They're all part of the Tarvin Sands Reindeer Centre and Fishery, where there's also an information hut, a gift shop, picnic areas, gardens and other animals including kingfishers, water voles and greylag geese.

And now the fishing. Three coarse fishing lakes are on the site, crammed with 30lb fish including carp, bream, roach, tench, chub, perch and rudd; if you want to get competitive, open comps are held every Tuesday and Saturday.

Big Foot is set over 25 acres of Cheshire countryside, with loads of room for kids to play and run around. It has an excellently-kept facilities block with free hot showers and toilets, a washing-up hut and a parent and baby washroom. There's also a café on site, serving hot and cold food from sarnies to full-on fryups.

Loved everything about the park. The pods where great, clean and we got a lovely welcome pack. We also were given charcoal, logs and fire lighter for the BBQ and the fire. The park is kept so clean and tidy, the staff and owner are so welcoming and are happy to help in anyway they can. We will definitely be returning back here.

Really friendly staff, the tent pitches were really spacious and the whole site was really clean and tidy. We were all impressed with how clean the toilet block is and although there is only a curtain over the shower access there were chairs and hooks to place clothes on.
Ste owner was really helpful and lent us a load of tent pegs after we forgot ours.

Great facilities, the site itself is really well maintained and handy having the cafe on site too. Good if you like to fish! Friendly and welcoming staff

    Disliked:

The road noise, it really isn’t a peaceful site unfortunately, it’s particularly noticeable at night. This is the only thing that would put us off returning. It’s also fairly expensive for a pitch

Very friendly staff. Great facilities. Toilet block kept clean with lovely, hot showers. On-site cafe serving cooked breakfast always welcome on a rainy morning! Location v convenient for getting into Chester and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

    Disliked:

Only downside was being next to a main road - the pods and cabins back on to this road so the noise of the traffic takes a bit of getting used to and kept us awake the first night.

We was not informed that the only gates to the site would be locked at 8pm and the staff go home therefore we was unable to leave to get food or we wouldn’t have been able to go home if there was an emergency

From the manager...

The gate policy is in the booking conditions & there for a reason, for safety of the children on site and also our reindeer
Everybody is told and shown on arrival that after 8pm cars can be left by the main gate which is covered by cctv also of a stile on site giving 24 hour entry on foot.
There ARE staff here 24 hours a day and after closing are in the big caravan at the entry to the site.
Our booking conditions are there for everyone to read prior to booking if you feel that anything else was not covered during your stay then don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,Big Foot Glamping.

Stayed in a very spacious pod for 4, we had beds, storage, a kettle, sockets and even an armchair! Outside we had our own table, bbq and chiminea. Owners provide wood and charcoal. Kids loved the space to play and wandering around the site and going to see the reindeer. Toilets and showers clean. We had a great couple of days.

    Disliked:

There is traffic noise, take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. We all slept very well though.

It's a smashing site for kids too, as it's close to famed family attractions like Chester Zoo as well as the kid-friendly fare in nearby Chester: try the Chester ghost hunter trail, the miniature railway at Grosvenor Park and the pools and flumes at Northgate Arena.

The Big Foot team also reckons you should take a look at Blakemere Craft village, the farm animals, play areas and tasty treats of Chester's The Ice Cream Farm, and family adventure play park the Crocky Trail.
