General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill setting
  • Small, peaceful and easily accessible from Craven Arms
  • In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Perhaps you’re a put-upon parent. Or an anguished auntie. Or one of those people who are scared of kids (well, they do ask such peculiar questions and also loudly point out one’s apparent weirdness in public). Or perhaps you are fond of small people but only in small doses. Whichever category you fall into, if you’re looking for an adults-only space for your hols, Greenway Touring Site should fit the bill.

(And if the thought of other humans is making you shudder, Greenway is in the Corvedale hills in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of solitary walks and sightseeing in all directions.)

The park is small, friendly and peaceful but is easily accessed a couple of miles along the B4368 from Craven Arms, is nine miles from historic Ludlow and is within reach of the Welsh border for days’ worth of grown-up sightseeing and shopping. It's well landscaped and on a gentle slope.

Craven canine company? Dogs are welcome.

Please note

We are an adults-only site.

If using a satnav to find us, you may be directed down a small lane that is not suitable for motorhomes or caravans. Please follow the directions stated on our Pitchup.com listing and your booking confirmation email.

Stunning gem! Lovely site with great views. Facilities were clean and seemed to be enough toilets and showers. I never had to wait. Chimneas/fire pits were allowed owner provided a slab and bricks to protect the grass......the grass was lush and better than carpet! Peaceful site, most noise was from the dawn chorus perhaps the odd rumble from the road when the birds were in bed but nothing to complain about.

    Disliked:

Nothing we will be back as it was a really good find.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. Clean facilities. Lovely flat pitches with plenty of room, even though fully booked when were there.

    Disliked:

Not enough showers- had to wait in morning

From the manager...

At the moment we have 3 showers and 4 toilets. We are looking to increase these in the future. Unfortunately there will always be mornings or evenings where several people want to shower at the same time and there may be a short wait.

Really lovely site with well cared for grass and nice trees to creat a bit of shade here and there. Good shower and toilet facilities. I would have liked a tumble drier as part of the facilities but when I asked about one Jane offered to do my drying at her house, so can't complain. She and Brian were very helpful. The information but is well stocked with local walks and places of interest. I also liked the fact that this site has an entry code barrier for a bit of security.

    Nice and relaxing.

    Disliked:

The road noise! For a B road it was surprisingly busy.

From the manager...

At the present time and on and off throughout the summer this year, the B4368 is a diversion route for A49 traffic.
We are giving consideration to installing laundry facilities.
Thank you for taking the time to give us a review. It is much appreciated.

What a fantastic find, beautiful tranquil site, so peaceful, but so many places to visit nearby, lovely part of the country to explore. Our first visit was in July, in a heat wave, and out second we have just returned from and introduced some friends, we had a few lovely frosty mornings, a bit of sunshine and a few showers, but both visits have been amazing! Immaculate site, beautiful pods, warm as a little heater in them, kettle so you can have a Cuppa in bed, and a fridge to keep your food and wine chilled. Jane and Brian go out of their way to help, and make he experience special, even offered to lend a dog lead as one of ours had broke. The new chimeners are fab, we cooked a beautiful bbq and a full English breakfast with ease, and what better way to chill out on an evening than Infront of a log fire sipping wine. Showers and toilets are immaculate, and washing up area and information available is great, even he dog walking walk is great and everyone cleans up, poo bags are also available if you have forgotten yours. Can't wait to go again, and out dog just loves it too, the wild life, views, and night stars are amazing ...you wont be disappointed!

    Disliked:

Local attractions

Fans of history of all sorts will be in heaven here: Stokesay and Ludlow Castle are both nearby and the famous Ironbridge Gorge set of museums are within half an hour’s drive.

Craven Arms is the starting point for all sorts of Shropshire sightseeing, but stick around the town for a bit first to take in both modern history and popular culture at the Land of Lost Content, the world’s biggest archive of pop culture items from the twentieth century. Perhaps that’s where your Rubix Cube went…

Craven Arms is also home to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre for virtual balloon rides over the hills, mammoth-meeting and all sorts of info on the history of the hills. A famous local landmark, Flounders Folly, is just north of the town.

The 30 acres of the Onny Meadows start just outside the discovery centre with waymarked walking and bike trails including the Shropshire Way. Mountain biker? Head for Hopton Wood, the main mountain biking centre in Shropshire with three downhill trails and a warm-up loop.

There are gardens, a limestone quarry and a trout fishery in the grounds of Delbury Hall, just outside Craven Arms between Much Wenlock and Ludlow, with heaps more history in nearby Shrewsbury. The National Trust’s eighteenth-century mansion and deer park Attingham Park is here, as is the Norman Shrewsbury Castle with the Shropshire Regimental Museum. Plus over 600 listed buildings, medieval cobbled streets, and one of the tallest church spires in the country…

The market town of Ludlow in the Welsh Marches is another historic spot to spend a day or two, with a side trip to Ludlow Racecourse almost a must: well, horse racing is the ancient sport of kings. There are traditional, farmers’ and flea markets in Ludlow for further lightening of the wallet.

And then north to Church Stretton…stop off at the Acton Scott Estate with its historic working farm to see how farmers did it in yesteryear, try the archery for which the town is famous, or take off from the high hills of Long Mynd for hang gliding, gliding and paragliding; one of the highest golf courses in the country is here too.
