General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill setting
  • Small, peaceful and easily accessible from Craven Arms
  • In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty nine miles from Ludlow

Perhaps you’re a put-upon parent. Or an anguished auntie. Or one of those people who are scared of kids (well, they do ask such peculiar questions and also loudly point out one’s apparent weirdness in public). Or perhaps you are fond of small people but only in small doses. Whichever category you fall into, if you’re looking for an adults-only space for your hols, Greenway Touring Site should fit the bill.

(And if the thought of other humans is making you shudder, Greenway is in the Corvedale hills in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of solitary walks and sightseeing in all directions.)

The park is small, friendly and peaceful but is easily accessed a couple of miles along the B4368 from Craven Arms, is nine miles from historic Ludlow and is within reach of the Welsh border for days’ worth of grown-up sightseeing and shopping. It's well landscaped and on a gentle slope.

Craven canine company? Dogs are welcome.

Please note

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The site is excellent with good sized pitches.
The facilities are good and clean.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Close to Ludlow and Shrewsbury and ideal for visiting this area of lovely Shropshire.

    Disliked:

From the manager...

We do have generous size pitches as we like guests to be able to site their unit / tent in a manner that makes the most of the views of the rolling Corvedale Hills and the gentle slope of the site.
We are pleased you found the shower rooms and toilets clean and good. we do check them regularly to ensure that they are left as someone would like to find them.
We are an ideal base for sightseeing / exploring / discovering the hidden gems of Shropshire by car, foot, bike, public transport (mainline station and buses from Craven Arms.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it is much appreciated.

From the manager...

We do try to be flexible in terms of arrival and departure times, but this does depend on the time of year guests are on site. During peak periods late checkout can be arranged whilst guests visit the area, however, the caravan or motorhome may need to be parked on site away from the original pitch. We are pleased that you enjoyed your short stay with us and hope that you will return. Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you for your kind comments. We do work hard at keeping the facilities clean and fresh, they are cleaned and checked on a regular basis, but can only stay as clean as the next person leaves them. Although the majority of guests do leave the facilities as they would like to find them. Being adults only, our site is quiet and friendly allowing our guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

From the manager...

We work hard to keep the site and it's facilities clean and tidy so that guests can relax and unwind and enjoy the beautiful living landscape provided by the Corvedale Hills that surround the site.
We do provide odds and ends above the washing up sinks and guests do leave things behind for other guests to use as and when required and there are some toiletries in the showrooms.
There are also books and magazines in the information hut for guests to borrow / swap.
It is always an idea to ask the site owners if you do find you have left something behind as they may be like us and keep a supply of , travel kettles, tin openers etc in the house for guests to borrow.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. It is much appreciated.

We are a gently sloping site with generous sized pitches with mature trees providing privacy.
We do have individual toilets and some toilet shower combinations.
We ask guests to sign a disclaimer before sharing the WIFI code as guests can have access to WIFI 24 hours in the privacy of their caravan, campervan, motorhome, pod or tent. We can be held responsible if anything inappropriate is downloaded and therefore have to ask guests to sign the disclaimer to protect ourselves.

We are especially proud of our sites facilities, and as campers ourselves we wanted to ensure large and spacious pitches were available. As an Adults Only site we do find that guests are respectful of their camping neighbours and enjoy the quiet ambience of the site. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate your positive feedback.

Many of our guests appreciate being able to light a campfire in the evening and it certainly adds to the ambience of our site. We do have a number of chimenea's that guests can use, but we ask that anything hot (including a foil barbeque) is placed on the concrete slab and bricks that we provide.
We are especially proud of our selection of trees, of varying sizes and ages, and our wild areas which provide a shelter for wildlife.

We are a rural site with low light pollution and therefore benefit from spectacular sunsets and starry skies.

Being an adults only site, it does mean guests can sit and relax whilst surrounded by the beautiful Corvedale Hills, creating a peaceful, laid back environment. Guests can leave the stresses and strains of family life and work behind them.

Thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Whilst we are a rural site we are not far from Craven Arms itself and the beautiful market town with a castle of Ludlow.

Local attractions

Fans of history of all sorts will be in heaven here: Stokesay and Ludlow Castle are both nearby and the famous Ironbridge Gorge set of museums are within half an hour’s drive.

Craven Arms is the starting point for all sorts of Shropshire sightseeing, but stick around the town for a bit first to take in both modern history and popular culture at the Land of Lost Content, the world’s biggest archive of pop culture items from the twentieth century. Perhaps that’s where your Rubix Cube went…

Craven Arms is also home to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre for virtual balloon rides over the hills, mammoth-meeting and all sorts of info on the history of the hills. A famous local landmark, Flounders Folly, is just north of the town.

The 30 acres of the Onny Meadows start just outside the discovery centre with waymarked walking and bike trails including the Shropshire Way. Mountain biker? Head for Hopton Wood, the main mountain biking centre in Shropshire with three downhill trails and a warm-up loop.

There are gardens, a limestone quarry and a trout fishery in the grounds of Delbury Hall, just outside Craven Arms between Much Wenlock and Ludlow, with heaps more history in nearby Shrewsbury. The National Trust’s eighteenth-century mansion and deer park Attingham Park is here, as is the Norman Shrewsbury Castle with the Shropshire Regimental Museum. Plus over 600 listed buildings, medieval cobbled streets, and one of the tallest church spires in the country…

The market town of Ludlow in the Welsh Marches is another historic spot to spend a day or two, with a side trip to Ludlow Racecourse almost a must: well, horse racing is the ancient sport of kings. There are traditional, farmers’ and flea markets in Ludlow for further lightening of the wallet.

And then north to Church Stretton…stop off at the Acton Scott Estate with its historic working farm to see how farmers did it in yesteryear, try the archery for which the town is famous, or take off from the high hills of Long Mynd for hang gliding, gliding and paragliding; one of the highest golf courses in the country is here too.
