Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The site is lovely and quiet and managed in a relaxed way.

A great location, with a couple of brilliant pubs only a 20 minute walk away and only a short bus journey or 75 minute walk along the Tissington Way into Ashbourne, an attractive town.

Camping pod

Liked Everything! Nice simple site, we stayed in one of the glamping pods with 2 young children. Very clean and spacious and very impressed with the added en suite behind, best ‘camping’ shower I’ve ever had, water pressure fantastic, temperature great too, loved that there was a heater in the shower/toilet and even a very good hair dryer! Shaving socket too, honestly it was fab! Swimming pool on site, We didnt manage swimming as we had a very packed few days although the pool looked fab. Handy shop on site perfect for essentials, not much choice of supermarkets nearby you have to travel a bit but there is a small Sainsbury’s and an Aldi in Ashbourne. Kids enjoyed the play park on site, plenty of places to visit nearby. We went to Alton Towers it took about 25-30mins, this site is perfect if you don’t want to travel a long way on the day to Alton Towers. All in all we had a fantastic stay and we will be returning and exploring more areas around! No

Disliked Nothing. Everything was Great!

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very clean toilet and shower block, lovely clean level pitch, grass pitch with electric, friendly helpful staff, easy check in and out, clear instructions on how to pitch, close to Tissington trail. Huge safe kids play area, small shop with essentials (no cash taken), dishwashing/bike wash/dog wash facilities available but we didn’t use those. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the site overall and how quiet it was, we stayed out of term time. We would definitely stay again at this time of year.

Disliked We loved the Tissington Trail, lovely walk however if you are planning to walk down to Ashbourne be aware it is a 3.5 mile walk to get there. Nothing to do with the site but useful to know if you have young children or anyone who needs any support

Local attractions

The amount of antics available at Alton Towers near Ashbourne Heights might turn grownups grey among the thrill rides, river rapids and other heady highlights of the country’s biggest theme park. You’ll ensure Very Good Behaviour Indeed if you take the family on to Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath, designed to keep all ages busy/tired out for later (beware the nerf guns). Other energetic Peak District pastimes include watersports, laser tag, climbing, caving and zipwiring; find out where’s what at Ashbourne’s tourist information centre, which is practised in all things Peak. More peacefully, the Peak District has a high amount of culture and heritage to explore: National Trust houses and estates, the old spa towns of Matlock and Buxton, museums of all sorts, prehistoric cave paintings, three vintage railways and aeons more. Lead mining was a main industry here from Roman times until recently and info on the industry can be mined at the Peak District Mining Museum at Matlock. Bolsover Castle, founded in the 12th century, has regular events to tempt the kids, such as exhibitions on torture for the gruesomely minded, an indoor riding school, and a theatrical room just for little darlings.
